The Spotlight on Lamartine Chelsea

Stylish, central, and steps from the stage

Modern and minimalist, Lamartine Chelsea is a smart choice for music fans looking to stay in the heart of Manhattan. Tucked into Chelsea and just a 3-minute walk from Penn Station, this well-located hotel is close to Madison Square Garden, The High Line, and other major NYC attractions. With free WiFi, a shared lounge, and concierge services, it offers a comfortable base without the hefty Midtown price tag.

Whether you’re in town for a high-energy arena show or an intimate gig downtown, this spot puts you in the center of the action while offering a peaceful place to recharge afterward.

Why Concert-goers love it

You really can’t beat the location—just a few blocks from Madison Square Garden and multiple subway lines at Penn Station. After the show, it’s an easy walk home or a quick hop on public transport. The hotel’s quiet, non-smoking rooms and garden courtyard offer a calm escape from the city buzz, perfect for unwinding after a loud night. Plus, the shared kitchen and flexible vibe make late-night snacks or early check-outs a breeze.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends catching a show and splitting a room
  • Solo travelers on a music pilgrimage
  • Couples making a romantic concert weekend of it
  • Anyone craving a quieter, more chill post-concert zone
  • Budget-conscious fans who want a great location without splurging

Food and Drink Options

While Lamartine Chelsea doesn’t have its own restaurant, the shared kitchen means you can BYO post-show snacks or breakfast. The neighborhood is filled with walkable eateries, late-night diners, and coffee shops to fuel your concert adventures. There’s also room service available for those nights you just want to crash.

Nightlife Options

From the hotel, you're a short stroll to Chelsea and Midtown’s buzzing nightlife scene. Enjoy craft cocktails at nearby lounges, rooftop bars, or dive-y pre-show haunts. While there’s no bar on-site, the location makes it easy to pre-game or keep the night going after the encore.

What People Say

Guests love the convenient location, especially for events at MSG and the Javits Center. The cleanliness, helpful staff, and modern design get regular shout-outs. Many reviewers also praise the quiet atmosphere despite being in the heart of the city.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviews mention that the rooms are on the smaller side—this is NYC, after all. A few guests have noted that the minimalist amenities may not suit those looking for full-service luxury, but most agree it’s a great tradeoff for the prime location and price.

The Bottom Line

If you're in NYC for the music and want a stylish, central, and affordable place to crash, Lamartine Chelsea hits all the right notes.

Abysmal and probably illegal

Liked: The facilities were very clean. Every floor every room certainly received daily deep cleaning
Disliked: Many things:1. This is unequivocally a youth hostel NOT a hotel. I don't feel that is disclosed transparently on booking.com2. Part of the confusion centers around me being a NY state resident, there is a law precluding NY residents from staying in hostels in NYC. They apparently don't care... The first time I heard that word hostel was when I checked in. 3. There is no front desk. There is a chair that a dude sometimes sits on with his laptop. Most of the time there's no one around. Certainly no one to talk to re: any issues or concerns. 4. Rooms are the size of walk in closets. Like that one Harry potter is kept in at his aunt's house. Beds are extremely high off the ground and terribly uncomfortable. The room A/C units are situated at the top part of the window and throw air directly on you as you're sleeping. With just very thin/light cotton quilt provided, your options are: either sweat bullets or freeze your stuff off. 5. Emergency signage such as fire info about sprinklers is posted on room doors. Just in case you didn't already feel like you were staying in a closet... 6. Place is unreasonably Ridgid regarding cancellations, even within a couple mins of booking. I feel this stems from the lack of a front desk. This is basically a cross between one of those internationally owned Airbnb's where they're owned abroad and all you get is a code and a youth hostel. A hostel without the typical cool traveler culture.

Great for convenience and short-term...

Liked: The location was in a great spot to where our event was located. It was a quick, easy, informal stay that was worth its money for its location in NY.
Disliked: The bathrooms were dirty, someone peed on the floor, the beds were very hard with thin sheets and flat pillows.

Liked: This isn’t a Luxury hotel but it worked for me.location was great. Price worked too. I am a fan. I often have to go to Javits North for trade shows yams I am tired of paying so much for a room in midtown. Seriously, it’s just too much for someone who has to do booth duty.
Disliked: Again, it’s not a luxury resort. It was clean. And it was good not to have to pay $350 a night. I also liked the fact I could walk to everywhere.

Liked: This charming old residence had plenty of electrical outlets and an A/C in the room. The wifi was decent. The pillows, mattress, and sheets were clean and comfortable. The shared kitchen was functional. The shower water was hot and the front door access was secure. The staff is friendly and accommodating.
Disliked: There is no TV, so bring your laptop. There are shared bathrooms, so plan extra time.
