Very good hotel

Liked: Nice, comfortable rooms/suites. Very pleasant staff. Great park and gardens. Good breakfast and a really top-rate restaurant for dinner (which sadly only does a tasting menu - not something much wanted 2 nights running, for example, though there's a small menu available in the bar...)
Disliked: Minor quibbles only: should be a fridge with chilled drinks in every room without any need to ask.No porter at the door to help (or only intermittently available as doubling up on the Reception desk). Parking a little awkward - 250 yards from the hotel.Sauna in room nice to have but hard to operate - in our case the instructions were stuck in Russian and we never got it up and running!Internet wasn't working throughout our stay and mobile data weak.Parts of the gardens need more work, especially the 'formal garden'.

Liked: The property is absolutely beautiful, with stunning, well-maintained grounds and elegant decor throughout. My room was spacious, tastefully furnished, and included thoughtful amenities like an ironing board, iron, and even a yoga mat. The front desk staff were also friendly and welcoming.
Disliked: The service was inconsistent and disappointing for a property of this calibre. I had to ask for basic items like cutlery and condiments at both lunch and breakfast. My scrambled eggs arrived cold, and the barman was unprofessional, even complaining about guests within earshot. Small details, like the absence of a shower cap despite other amenities, also added to a sense of inconsistency.

A birthday treat which was...

Liked: I booked this room for my wife's 65th birthday. My wife was not well and could not make it up to the room we had originally booked (on the first floor). The staff matched the room quality with a ground floor room and provided assistance (wheel chair) to allow her to get too from the Avenue restaurant. The taster menu from Tom was exceptional and the staff made up for the changes in booking we had to make. Thank you to everyone, you saved the day.

OK - probably would not...

Liked: Loved the property - however, the room we stayed in was very old. Hairdryer didn't work, jacuzzi bath was broken and furnishings were very tired. The restaurant off site was without any character and very much like sitting in a village hall. It still has a great presence - I just wish we were put in a better room - especially since they were nearly empty.

Great overnighter in the middle...

Liked: Exceptionally well maintained grounds. Lush greenery abounds
Disliked: Our room was on the second floor with no elevator. Not an easy feat to haul all our luggage plus pram plus baby up and down the stairs. The temperature in the room fluctuates a lot depending on the time of day. Again, not immediately comfortable with a baby.
