Nice hotel, let down by...

Liked: Clean comfortable room, lovely location.
Disliked: Breakfast is very expensive and lacking quantity for the price. £18, buys a skinny sausage, rasher of bacon, slice of haggis, egg and a hash brown (which has no business being in a Scottish breakfast).The coffee consisted of a small cafetière. I asked for some ketchup which was ignored, somewhat disappointing considering the price. The apple juice was fairly vile.The dining room furniture was tired in appearance.The room window didn’t lock properly and had accessible roof below it which posed a potential security risk.Tap water was advised as not being potable, to the extent bottled was needs to be provided to brush teeth and fill the kettle in the room.I came away with the impression that the hotel was understaffed. I had to go looking for staff so that I could check out. However, with the exception of my ‘bad’ breakfast experience, the other staff were perfectly friendly.

Liked: Everything was faultless.Amazing chef who was happy to modify the dish - best schnitzel I’ve ever had! Gorgeous art work throughout. The log fires were lit and welcoming.
Disliked: The property was warm enough, but reception room/area was a bit cold even though the fire was lit, just a small thing though.

Liked: The property is presented beautifully, very comfortable rooms, lovely interior design and attentive and welcoming staff.
Disliked: The continental breakfast was a little disappointing
