Not what we expected for...

Liked: Lovely staff and very comfortable bed. Great location for dining and sightseeing.
Disliked: It's a nice hotel but not 4 star quality. The bathroom is ridiculously small and poorly designed. The temperature in the room was either too cold or too hot. There is no microwave on hotel premises, not even in the in pantry room where one gets water or coffee. Our room view was of a brick wall. On the whole, the stay was disappointing. We will travel to New York next year but we won't be staying at the Kixby.

Liked: The location was excellent (right by Empire State Bldg & Penn Station), the room was beautiful and spacious, and the front-desk staff were very kind and helpful!
Disliked: The elevators are a bit of a pain to use - the key card didn't work for about 50% of my attempts (or for others in the elevator), so we all had to continuously try to get our floor buttons to light up even while the elevator was already going up.

Nice option if the price...

Liked: The room size was great and the shower as well.
Disliked: Elevators take too much time and are crowded. Email replay took longer than needed (an AI boot could probably solve this issue).

Exceptional

Fantastic location, outdated infrastructure

Liked: The location of the hotel was amazing with one street light away from the biggest Macy's in New York, and a few blocks away from the Fifth Avenue and Broadway. The subway was super easy to reach to as well.
Disliked: The sound and weather insulation of the windows were poor. We stayed during the winter season, and the temperature in the room dropped significantly a few minutes after we turned off the heater. Moreover, the sound of the noisy street could be heard from inside the room. The heaters are outdated and too noisy to sleep while running them. The walls and doors are not soundproof, as we heard our neighbors slamming the doors in the morning while we were trying to sleep.
