Kimpton Theta New York - Times Square By IHG

I could say it was a bit pricy, but considering that this is Manhattan it should go without saying that any decent hotel will be expensive, so I will not count that as a negative point. Among the positive points: it is in a great location, the room was very clean, the beds were extremely comfortable, the staff was friendly (so much so that the bellman practically grabbed the luggage cart out of my hands when he saw me starting to push it, because he wanted to help me with it...of course, I'm sure the fact that me doing it myself meant that he wouldn't get a tip had nothing to do with it - ha, ha!). I can't think of anything negative to say, and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I loved this hotel and the perfect location - it was to everything that we wanted to do in New York City for the weekend. Staff were very attentive and Larry was wonderful at making suggestions for restaurants nd tours. Would come back again in a heart beat.

Liked: Location; staff; room accommodations and cleanliness.
Disliked: First night the shower just took quite a bit of time to heat up.

Disliked: Breakfast was limited and repetitive, service was basic - you could tell when management were about as staff were better

Good location, could be friendlier...

Liked: The room was modern, clean and comfortable.
Disliked: We felt the service was a little impersonal and the front desk hadn’t got the information on the breakfast we had pre paid. There were works right outside the only communal space which wasn’t relaxing or convenient for an important business call.

Disappointing

Didn't actually stay after dealing...

Liked: Location, which is why I booked it
Disliked: I arrived on a 90-degree-plus day. Lobby a/c was not working. Room a/c was clearly struggling to maintain even marginal cooling, and was loud. (Also, one of the LED desk lamps was already defective and strobing.) Returned to front desk. "Oh, yeah - a/c's half out. We're working on it." No ETA for repairs. Second room just as bad. They said they weren't holding people to their reservations, and I went to a different hotel.Based on prior experience with Kimpton, I expected a better job of updating the property (formerly a HGI). Clearly they spend no money on the mechanical systems, focusing on cosmetics and the exterior fixes required by NYC building department.

Disliked: Bathroom needed a bit of maintenance but overall it was ok, No complimentary water to guests except for first night.
