Inn On The Prom At The Fernlea Hotel

Poor service

Liked: Bar and seating area was nice.
Disliked: When we arrived at hotel we were stood at reception for over 15 minutes with no staff available, one member of staff walked past and was said excuse me, he replied, sorry i am busy. Then another lady who was talking to other guests came into reception, we said excuse me, we are waiting to check in. She said oh hang on, went into a room opposite reception desk and said, oh she is busy a minute. She then went back into room, came and and said what's name - we told her and she have us a key, asked us to sign and told us where room was. No other information given. No apology for us having to wait nearly 20 minutes to be checked in. This lady smelt very strongly of cigarette smoke, which was very off putting. We went to our room to find the windows closed and no way of adjusting the heating and the room was stifling, very very uncomfortable, even after opening window for few hours still very hot. The soap dispenser next to the sink was full of dust and I took a picture of this. We decided to go to the bar for a drink as it was too hot to stay in room, again we were stood waiting for over 5 minutes for someone to come to the bar to serve us. Overall, we are really not happy with the service and wont be visiting again and would definitely not recommend to others.

Liked: The room was comfortable and a decent size for me and the dog, the staff were very friendly and provided recommendations for local dog friendly places. Good value for the price and perfect location. Good atmosphere in the bar area.
Disliked: The blanket had some dirt on it but not an issue I just didn’t use it

Liked: The situation of the hotel near to the town centre and beach.
Disliked: The room was not as expected. There was no heating in the bathroom so your towels never dried and the heating in the room was poor.

Liked: Right near to the beach ,
Disliked: only fault was having a dog friendly room 2 floors up and a 10 minute walk/run through the hotel floors to get her out for the morning toilet run

Liked: So near to seafront and Town. Friendly helpful staff.
Disliked: Couldn't park at the front, had to park in overspill at back which is a longer walk and I took 2 young Grandchildren. The pool was a bit deep for the 7 year old
