The Spotlight on Hyde Park Hotel

Charming Historic Stay Near Tampa’s Music Scene

Modern comfort meets vintage charm at the Hyde Park Hotel, a 3-star boutique hotel nestled in one of Tampa’s most walkable and picturesque neighborhoods. Housed in a beautifully preserved 1926 building, this hotel offers a relaxed, unfussy vibe with easy access to top music venues like Amalie Arena and Raymond James Stadium. With free WiFi, complimentary parking, and cozy, well-equipped rooms, it’s a great low-key launchpad for your concert night.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just a quick drive (or ride-share) from Amalie Arena and less than 15 minutes from Raymond James Stadium, so catching your favorite act couldn’t be easier. The neighborhood is relatively quiet at night—perfect for post-show wind-downs. Check-in is available from 4:00 PM, and checkout at 11:00 AM gives you time to sleep off that encore. Plus, the free on-site parking is a bonus for road-trippers or locals skipping the rideshare surge pricing.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a budget-friendly home base
  • Solo travelers catching a bucket-list tour
  • Couples turning the show into a weekend getaway
  • Fans needing a quieter spot to crash after the concert
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want location without the price tag

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, each room includes a mini fridge, and you’re within walking distance of plenty of local dining spots in Hyde Park. Late-night bites are easy to find nearby, and some guests opt for delivery. Breakfast is not included, but there are coffee shops and diners just a few blocks away—ideal for a slow morning after a late night.

Nightlife Options

You’re steps away from the bars and lounges of Hyde Park Village. Whether you’re looking for a craft cocktail or a casual beer, Tampa’s nightlife is easily accessible. While the hotel itself doesn’t offer live music or a bar, the location puts you within reach of some of the city's best post-show hangouts.

What People Say

Guests love the historic charm, friendly staff, and super-convenient location. Many note that it’s a great value for the price, especially with free parking and easy access to concert venues. Clean rooms and comfy beds get frequent shout-outs, and reviewers often mention feeling safe and relaxed during their stay.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the building’s age means a few quirks—like slightly smaller bathrooms or older fixtures. There’s no elevator, so pack light if stairs are a concern. And while the hotel is clean and comfortable, it doesn’t offer luxury amenities like a pool or gym.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers looking for a budget-friendly stay close to Tampa’s top venues, Hyde Park Hotel offers charm, comfort, and location without the hefty price tag.

Liked: Was good for a night, easy check in and out but the room was soooo tiny we had to push the bed to get our luggage in The location is everything here, so nearby to everything you need

A memorable stay in a...

Liked: Lovely hotel, and a great mix. A modern bathroom and classic rooms and furniture. The bedroom had the exact same leather armchair I own - which is amazing as it is in England, and the chair must be 50 years old. I've never seen another. There's a big super market 5 mins walk, and loads of bars and restaurants within a 10 min walk.
Disliked: The key system took a bit of getting used to.

A weekend getaway with my...

Liked: I really liked the key inside the lock box outside of each room to skip having to check in and check out. The only problem I can envision is someone REALLY intoxicated and not remembering the code, lol. The staff was fantastic, we booked for 1 night then added another so we had to switch rooms. They took our leftovers from the fridge and put them in the new room’s fridge for us.
Disliked: The only thing I didn’t like were the pillows, they were way too soft for me. Even with the extras they brought us, it didn’t work. I’m willing to bring my own next time. One thing I would suggest for the rooms with the stove in it(our second room had this) would be to supply more silverware, plates, cups and dishes. Even the ones from the Dollar Store would work.

If I could give this...

Liked: The only pleasant surprise was the full kitchenette, but only up to a point. It was not expected and was therefore a surprise, but without the advance knowledge of its inclusion, we hadn't prepared to take advantage of it. So, in the end, it was a wash.
Disliked: This will be lengthy. The Booking placement ad did not accurately describe the facilities that we found ourselves in. Our first visual impression was of a 1940s boarding house slightly renovated to stay in code. The advertised "upscale neighborhood must have been a ruse due to the high security front door code which required remote operation from an absentee manager to open. There was no one on site to check us in. This is a low-rent apartment house that has a few rooms for overnight guests. If not for the kindness of a resident guiding us in the ways of the hotel we would have never figured how to get into our room for the night. We never met a manager or staff member while on site. The key to our door was in a key safe box that was attached to our door. It was connected inside the key safe box with a chain just long enough to insert the key into the door knob lock. We got the front door security code and the key safe box code from a text message from the absentee manager. The key remained attached to the key safe box; we never had the security of possessing the key during our stay. After opening the door we realized that the two beds occupied so much of the small area that we could barely get into the room. There was less than one foot between the side of the bed and the corner of the door hall that we had to pass by with our luggage. The beds were extremely and unnecessarily tall; we are average sized people and could not touch the floor with our feet while sitting on the bed. These were the hardest beds we had ever slept in. We likened them to sleeping on a picnic bench with only a blanket under us. There was no room to haul the one desk chair into the room for more comfortable TV viewing. The bathroom had been overly remodeled to fit the tone of the rest of the building, and the dual head shower would not turn off fully after we used it; we listened to the dripping of the faucet all night.

Clean, no-frills hotel in excellent...

Liked: Location! It was accessible to shopping and dining. Free parking. Area feels safe. Lots of couples and families. Lots of people walking their dogs. There is a new Aldi for groceries. This is a very basic hotel and is on older side. However. bathrooms were fine. There is even a kitchenette with full size fridge, oven/stove, microwave and sink. For the price room stay in Tampa, I would choose this again.
Disliked: Very basic amenities. Room was small and was filled up by King bed.
