Areas for Improvement

Rooms can be on the smaller side—pretty typical for Manhattan—so pack light if you’re sharing. Some guests noted a lack of storage space, and while there's no full-service spa, the fitness center does the job if you’re trying to stay active between shows.

The Bottom Line

A stylish, superbly located hotel that puts concert-goers in the middle of Manhattan’s music and nightlife scene—without sacrificing comfort or quiet.

Perfect location in NYC, with...

Liked: So, when you're booking a hotel in Manhattan, you always have to manage your expectations, but with the right expectations, this hotel is definitely worth staying at. The staff at the check-in was friendly and helpful, they accommodated to our needs and were very nice to our small kids. The rooms were decently sized (again, for NYC standards), clean and the beds were comfortable. We had breakfast in our reservation and it had some decent options (not buffet, because it also serves as a a-la-carte restaurant), and the staff there were nice too. The highlight, though, is definitely the location - on 39th and 5th, it makes it super easy to walk around the city, and gives you enough flexibility to get to Central Park or to the High line in 20 minutes, or simply to Bryant Park, the Empire State Building, Times Square or the NYPL in less than 10. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.
Disliked: On to the "managing expectations" part - it's in NYC, so you can't expect a quiet night (ie. on Friday night we heard the garbage trucks for an hour when we went to bed, and this is aside from the usual ambulances, etc.), on Sunday morning they were unloading some sort of pipes from the hotel so it smelled like sewage, and in general the hallways, lobby, elevators are small.

Great location for exploring NYC

Liked: Excellent location, short walk to 5th Ave shopping, central park, times square etc Lots of great restaurant options all around. Comfortable and well appointed rooms. Courteous and helpful staff.
Disliked: There were 2 bottles of water in the room labelled for Hyatt members. I consumed it assuming it's free since Im a hyatt member. However they charged me $3 per bottle, saying the offer was for 'Elite" members only. I found this to be a very petty thing to do for a hotel that's charging over $300 a night. A bottle doesn't even cost 50 cents! Give it as an amenity to your customers. Especially when you say that the tap water in the hotel is not safe for drinking.

Superb

Liked: We had a great stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and the location was excellent. I especially want to give 5 stars to the staff — particularly Leonardo, who was very polite, attentive, and essential in helping us resolve an issue with our room.

Great location but not 4star...

Liked: The location was great. The room was a reasonable size and the bathroom had a very good shower. The bed was comfortable but very warm due to the plastic mattress cover.Nice roof top bar but they had run out of beer when we went up as they had been busy!!Reception staff were pleasant and helpful.
Disliked: The room was quite dark as it was facing internally to other buildings. The lighting was not great. Paper cups and not enough for more than one cup of coffee and no glasses. Not enough milk/creamer for more than one cup!$3 for bottles of water in the room that cost less than $1.50 in the shops. The restaurant and bar staff were not too friendly. Asked for a cup of milk to put in coffee in the room and was told it would be $6!There was and issue with my account being charged incorrectly.
