The Spotlight on Hudson River Hotel

Affordable Comfort Steps from NYC's Top Music Venues

Modern and straightforward, the Hudson River Hotel puts you in the heart of Manhattan’s vibrant West Side. Located just off 9th Avenue, this clean, no-fuss hotel is a smart pick for travelers looking to explore the city’s top sights and soundscapes without breaking the bank. With free WiFi, a 24-hour front desk, and all the essentials covered, it’s a solid base camp for concert-goers who want to stay close to the action without the high-end price tag.

Why Concert-goers love it

You can't beat the location — just a short walk to Madison Square Garden and close to the Jacob K. Javits Center, making it super convenient for shows and events. Late-night scene nearby? Check. Easy to get to after a gig? Absolutely. The hotel’s modest vibe also means it’s typically quieter, ideal for winding down after the encore. With a 3:00 PM check-in and 11:00 AM check-out, there's enough wiggle room for both pre-show prep and a little extra morning snooze.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends in town for a show or weekend fest
  • Solo travelers catching a dream concert
  • Couples combining music and sightseeing
  • Fans who want a quieter place to crash after the noise
  • Budget-conscious music lovers

Food and Drink Options

The hotel doesn’t have on-site dining, but it’s surrounded by walkable eateries, delis, and diners that stay open late — perfect for a post-show bite. From local pizza joints to all-night diners, options abound just steps away. There’s coffee makers in every room to get you going the next morning, and tons of nearby spots for a casual brunch after a late night.

Nightlife Options

You're in one of the best neighborhoods for nightlife. Just a few blocks from Hell’s Kitchen, you’ll find trendy bars, casual pubs, and live music spots open late. While the hotel itself doesn’t host nightly entertainment, the neighborhood more than makes up for it.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise the Hudson River Hotel’s location, calling it “perfect for MSG events” and “easy to get to Times Square.” Reviews highlight the clean rooms, friendly staff, and the value for money. The WiFi and in-room coffee makers are appreciated touches for travelers on the go.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are a bit on the small side, and the décor is more practical than posh. Some guests mention that hallways and elevators could use updating, and while the area is central, it can feel a bit busy late at night — typical for Manhattan.

The Bottom Line

If you're heading to a concert in Midtown Manhattan and want a clean, affordable, and well-located hotel, Hudson River Hotel hits all the right notes.
