Liked: Disappointing Stay – Would Not RecommendOur recent stay at the Howard Johnson by Wyndham in North Bergen was, unfortunately, a very disappointing experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt uneasy. The lobby was dark and unwelcoming, with a thick bulletproof glass barrier separating the reception area from guests. There was a handwritten sign stating that the entrance restroom was out of order, which added to the sense of neglect. When I asked about the security glass, I was told it was installed “for COVID”—a response that felt evasive and unconvincing.The section of the hotel we were placed in was dirty and had a noticeable unpleasant smell. While the room itself was just barely acceptable, the overall condition of the surroundings left much to be desired. My wife, who is usually not one to complain about accommodations, remarked that this was the first hotel she genuinely felt disappointed in.Breakfast was another letdown. Rather than a proper meal, we received a brown paper bag containing two muffins, a juice box, and a snack bar. It felt more like an afterthought than a service provided by an established hotel brand.We will not be returning and cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. If you’re considering staying here—do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
