Hotel Description
An art-deco masterpiece in the heart of downtown, the Hotel Phillips is a popular choice with guests who appreciate the charm and character of a grand old hotel. Built in the 1930s, this 20-story luxury hotel, a national landmark, continues to exude all the elegance of the period. Many of the original details remain, including the walnut paneling, intricate metalwork, black ceiling glass and a gilded 111-foot winged statue of the goddess Dawn. The 217 rooms are cozy, characteristic of a historic hotel, and comfortable, with plump duvets, high-end linens, Wi-Fi, fluffy bathrobes, all-natural bath products and artisanal coffee. The hotel's highly celebrated restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, a massive weekend brunch and the longest happy hour in the city. After indulging, guests may need the 24-hour gym, or a massage, available by appointment. Pets are welcome and pampered, for a fee, with a custom-made bed and treats. Additional amenities include business center services, 24-hour room service and same-day laundry/dry cleaning. Parking is available for a fee. NOTE: The hotel restaurant will be closed for renovation through October 31, 2016; no on-site dining will be available during this time. Smack in the middle of downtown, Hotel Phillips is one block from the Power & Light District, eight lively blocks of restaurants, nightclubs and theaters and six blocks from the Sprint Center, ranked third in the US among sports arenas. The airport is 19 miles away. More than just a hotel, the Hotel Phillips is an experience, a step back in time to a more gracious era. Everyone deserves that experience, if only for a night.

Liked: Hotel staff was professional; very prompt customer service; definitely an old time feel to this motel.
Disliked: The lighting in the room was very dim, giving the room a gloomy feel. I am one who likes things lit up.

Tim, Lincoln Tue, 24 September 2013

We were updated to executive room for waiting. The bed seemed small. Did not like putting up a deposit for anything I might order. Close to Midland Theater - nice to walk there.

Liked: Couch; desk help was good. Beautiful place.
Disliked: 1 cup of coffee in the room. Door heard slamming in the hallways.

Booked this hotel because it was downtown, within walking distance of Power and Light District and Kansas City Music Hall. Great choice - you can definitely feel the history in the whole place. Beautiful architecture. It was a small room and bathroom but didn't spend much time in the room anyway and it was clean!

Liked: Very friendly, helpful staff.
Disliked: Small room and bathroom.

Liked: I loved the history wrapped up in this hotel! What a great location! Cheap parking, great staff, and even though there is currently a huge renovation project going on, it was as clean as it could be and very quiet in our room.

Liked: The location is fantastic. Close proximity to restaurants and Bars. The new tram is close by and connects you to Union Station. Is a historic hotel with a well preserve interior and exterior lobbies.
Disliked: There is construction everywhere at the hotel. They start at 8am drilling loudly all over the place. if you expect to sleep in, you will be out of luck.

Andrew Mon, 11 July 2016

Liked: Beautiful, spacious room
Disliked: I thought the hotel would have a pool. I also asked for a checkout one hour later so our daughter could finish her nap before a long road trip. The lady at the front desk told me she would have to charge me $50. Parking costs $24 which is way too high.

Liked: Great historic hotel right off the highway. Beautiful lobby. The room is larger than most and a very comfy bed.
Disliked: The room could have been cleaned. They are ready to do a major remodel but the floor needed vacuuming and the dust on the visitor guide indicates the room wasn't cleaned thoroughly.
