The Spotlight on Hotel La Place

Classic Charm in Central London, Steps from the Action

Hotel La Place is a traditional, family-run hotel in the heart of Marylebone, offering a cozy and quiet retreat just a few minutes’ walk from major music destinations. Set on a peaceful residential street, this boutique gem is only 1640 feet from Baker Street Underground Station and near hotspots like Regent’s Park and Oxford Street. Expect comfortable, individually decorated rooms, warm hospitality, and a hint of old-school London charm.

Why Concert-goers love it

Music fans love Hotel La Place for its short walk to Baker Street Station, making late-night tube rides back from concerts easy. Despite its central location, the hotel sits on a quiet residential street, offering a peaceful night’s sleep after a high-energy show. With check-in from 14:00 and a generous check-out at 12:00, there’s flexibility to rest and recharge. The free WiFi and 24-hour front desk make it easy to plan your gig night or grab a cab if needed.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a central yet budget-friendly base
- Solo travelers checking off a bucket-list concert
- Couples making a romantic weekend of it
- Fans wanting a quiet crash pad after the noise
- Budget-conscious music lovers who want charm without the splurge

Food and Drink Options

Start the day right with a full English breakfast or lighter continental option—perfect after a late night out. While there’s no full restaurant, Hotel La Place has a 24-hour wine bar for a nightcap and is close to a variety of walkable pubs and eateries around Marylebone and Oxford Street. Tea and coffee facilities in-room are a welcome touch for early risers or midnight sippers.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, you’ll find plenty of nearby pubs, cocktail lounges, and late-night spots within walking distance. Being so central, it’s easy to reach London’s major music venues and return safely. The in-house wine bar is a great spot to unwind before calling it a night.

What People Say

Reviewers on TripAdvisor and Booking.com often highlight the friendly staff, excellent location, and value for money. Many guests appreciate the hotel’s quiet setting despite its central location, and the personal touch that comes with a smaller, family-run property. Repeat visitors mention the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms and how easy it is to get around town.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the decor feels a bit dated, and the rooms, while cozy, can be on the small side. If you’re looking for modern luxury, this might not be the spot—but if you value charm and location, it delivers. Soundproofing isn’t perfect, so light sleepers may want to pack earplugs just in case.

The Bottom Line

Hotel La Place is a budget-friendly, charming base for concert-goers who want a peaceful stay within walking distance of the action.

Great spot for an overnight...

Liked: Quietly situated yet just round the corner from Marylebone High Street. Brilliant facilities and very friendly staff. Comfy bed.
Disliked: It was clean but the pillows smelt a bit sweaty!

An old-school hotel that will...

Liked: Hotel is old-school which is great because let's face it, pretty much all recent innovation in the hospitality sector has been in the direction of fewer services for more money. There is an actual person at the reception, a lift with buttons for the floor, light switches in the room that turn on/off the light at your command and not at the command of a "smart" system, a TV remote that turns on the TV and not an endless "app" with hotel advertisements, an AC unit which lets YOU control the temperature and the fan and can be set under 30 degrees (even under 20 actually. Don't abuse it and turn it off when leaving the room). The room has an ironing board and an iron, the bed is comfortable with plenty of pillows, the bathtub has a simple tap (up/down to control stream, left/right to control temperature, something many hotels aspire to improve on and always fail), there are toiletries. The breakfast is made individually for every guest, is basic but more than enough and tasty. You're in England so get a full English, obviously.I couldn't be happier.

Friendly, well-located town-house hotel. Good...

Liked: I had a spacious third floor room with, firm, comfortable bed and excellent AC (which is often poor in London hotels!).Front desk staff were friendly, efficient and helpful throughout.
Disliked: The basement breakfast room was quite cramped. Otherwise all good.

Very good

Liked: Lovely choice of cooked breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Like being with friends. Fantastic to get free pre-arranged ride from Heathrow to Hotel. When requested a taxi from Reception they arrived very quickly
Disliked: Bit cramped. Even though a lift available still had short flight of stairs to 3rd floor.

Great location, comfortable stay

Liked: Excellent location, close to Baker Street underground and excellent local shopping & eating in Marylebone.Room was very comfortable and quiet. Freshly cooked breakfast was good.Front desk and breakfast staff all friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Coffee at breakfast wasn't great as the filter coffee tended to be over-stewed. Switching to individual cafetieres would be good!
