The Spotlight on Hotel Hugo

Industrial-Chic Comfort in Hudson Square

Modern yet warm, Hotel Hugo blends sleek architecture with downtown NYC vibes, sitting perfectly between SoHo and the Hudson River in the artsy Hudson Square neighborhood. Designed by architect Marcello Pozzi, this boutique hotel offers stylish rooms with Italian glass-tiled bathrooms, mini-bars, and some even feature sweeping Hudson River views. You're close to iconic neighborhoods and just minutes from some of New York’s best live music spots.

Why Concert-goers love it

With Times Square, Broadway, and Washington Square Park all within a short cab ride, Hotel Hugo puts you within easy reach of many top music venues. The 24/7 front desk and luggage storage make late-night check-ins a breeze after a show, and the surrounding area is relatively quiet at night—ideal for recharging. Plus, its location makes catching a late-night subway or rideshare simple and safe.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a stylish base near NYC nightlife
- Solo travelers catching a bucket-list gig
- Couples planning a music-filled weekend
- Fans wanting a quieter, more refined post-show space
- Budget-conscious music lovers wanting boutique style without Midtown prices

Food and Drink Options

Café Hugo serves up farm-to-table American fare, perfect for pre- or post-concert meals. The glass-enclosed rooftop bar offers cocktails with a view, ideal for a nightcap. While room service isn't 24/7, you're surrounded by plenty of late-night eats in SoHo and Greenwich Village. Breakfast is available, and the on-site coffee machines help with those slower mornings after a late night out.

Nightlife Options

The hotel’s rooftop bar is a destination in itself, with a buzzy atmosphere and city views. Guests can stroll to SoHo lounges, West Village wine bars, or catch a DJ set nearby. While there’s no on-site live music, you’re in a prime spot to explore NYC’s legendary music scene.

What People Say

Travelers love the stylish design, quiet location tucked away from the chaos of Midtown, and the helpful staff. Many mention the rooftop bar as a highlight, and the clean, well-designed rooms earn frequent praise. Guests also appreciate the walkability and quick access to subways.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that rooms can be on the smaller side (this is NYC, after all), and the elevators can feel a bit slow during busy times. A few reviews mention that soundproofing between rooms could be better, so pack those earplugs just in case.

The Bottom Line

Hotel Hugo is a stylish, well-located boutique hotel that gives concert-goers easy access to NYC’s music scene while offering a quiet, comfortable place to wind down.

Troy, Wurtsboro, visiting Le Poisson Rogue

If you get "upgraded", I would recommend declining the upgrade if it envolves the 18th floor. Nothing spectacular for a view of the city either so it's not worth putting up with the never ending noise.

Liked: Staff was courteous. Rooms were clean. Hotel was very nice.
Disliked: We were "upgraded" to a room on the 18th floor. I don't think "upgrade" should've been used as an adjective to describe this change in rooms. I'm not sure how small the other rooms are in the hotel but this room was pretty small for an "upgrade". We've stayed in 50 hotels in NYC and understand that most rooms can be small. This just wasn't expected as an "upgrade". Then there was the noise in our room, 1808. It was like sleeping in a mechanical room. It had a sound of either a high volume plumbing/mechaincal riser in the wall or that an exhaust fan was directly above the floor causing the air to be choked down so much that it created turbulence noise. Whatever it was, it was non stop. It never changed the entire time we were there. It actually kept me awake in the morning when I was hoping for a few extra hours of sleep.

The most perfect location at...

Liked: Great location in a quiet area. You can walk to a lot of locations within a hour like Maddison square, summit one, Times Square to name a few. Subway station was a 5 min walk. Hotel room was big for New York. It was clean. Housekeeping came everyday they were super friendly in fact all the staff were so so friendly. If I saw them in the elevator or in passing they always acknowledged me. Maria checked me in she was so lovely & recommended a few places to go. Concierge guys were so lovely as well. seeing as they are the first to greet you they really were just so friendly. There was a rooftop that actually never visited but seemed popular place. I just need to say again how amazing the location was. Away from all the busyness & fuss. It was less than 10 min walk from Hudson River which was so lovely to walk through. Overall felt so safe as a solo traveler.
Disliked: I can't say anything to be honest only small thing blind wouldn't go all the way down so if you need full blacked out room to sleep that would be the only thing. Otherwise nothing I didn't like. Book the hotel !!!

Very good

Liked: Hotel was clean and in a great location. The rooms were big and hotel staff was friendly. Great option if you are looking to stay downtown in NYC.
Disliked: The building could have been better soundproofed. We can hear a lot of street noise in the night. Also our TV wasn't working. Luckily Oscar at the front desk was resilient in helping us getting it fixed even though it was late at night and maintenance wasn't available. Shout out to Oscar!
