If you get "upgraded", I would recommend declining the upgrade if it envolves the 18th floor. Nothing spectacular for a view of the city either so it's not worth putting up with the never ending noise.
Liked: Staff was courteous. Rooms were clean. Hotel was very nice.
Disliked: We were "upgraded" to a room on the 18th floor. I don't think "upgrade" should've been used as an adjective to describe this change in rooms. I'm not sure how small the other rooms are in the hotel but this room was pretty small for an "upgrade". We've stayed in 50 hotels in NYC and understand that most rooms can be small. This just wasn't expected as an "upgrade". Then there was the noise in our room, 1808. It was like sleeping in a mechanical room. It had a sound of either a high volume plumbing/mechaincal riser in the wall or that an exhaust fan was directly above the floor causing the air to be choked down so much that it created turbulence noise. Whatever it was, it was non stop. It never changed the entire time we were there. It actually kept me awake in the morning when I was hoping for a few extra hours of sleep.

Liked: Our red headed waiter at breakfast was terrible! The others tried to make up for it but they had their own tables to deal with. The rest of the staff was very friendly.

Liked: Location is great, walking distance Spring Street and Hudson Street which offer great places for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as nice shops. The Hudson River Park is just around the corner and provides a nice walk right at the rivers side.
Disliked: The roof top terrace was closed announced, there is a heavy construction side right beside the hotel and first of all I got I room right at the construction side. Furthermore our bathroom door was not clothing smoothly and the ventilation was not working. After a short discussion they relocated us the next day to a quieter room which was nice.

Not a boutique hotel
Liked: We loved the location of the hotel. The hotel staff welcomed us with a rose wine bottle as we were there for a very special occasion as we informed them in advanced. Very nice. Our room (904 if I remember correctly) had a view of little part of the New Jersey?s skyline: great view at sunset!
Disliked: The hotel is very dark, too dark.Still the light was enough to see that the room wasn?t very well cleaned: full of dust and suspicious spots (blood?) on the wall. We told the reception to please clean better the room, but nothing changed during our stay. Most of the staff was friendly, except the manager that we met at the end of our stay. He got rude when he asked us for feedback, and received more negative responses than positive ones. The whole staff can definitely improve and become more professional (listen to their feedback, greet them every time they come to the reception,...).Furnitures in the room are too much: desk, another desk, desk chair, round table, another chair,... We would have preferred more space, empty spots in the room, or better a bigger and more comfortable bed.Too much alcohol is in the room: little and big bottles of all kind of alcohol outside and inside the fridge.Probably we were also not in the right hotel. That in general, at least that was our feeling, seems to be more focused on getting guests to party and drink at their rooftop (and in their rooms).Still, we think that with some more effort, a better management, and more professionalism this hotel could be a nice stay for everyone.
