The Spotlight on Hotel Edison

Classic NYC Vibes in the Heart of Times Square

Hotel Edison brings old-school glamour to modern-day Manhattan. Established in 1930 and still going strong, this Art Deco-style hotel sits right in the electric heart of Times Square. With a stylish lobby, vintage charm, and easy access to iconic attractions, it's a favorite for travelers who want to be close to the action—especially those catching a show nearby.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location, location, location. Hotel Edison is within walking distance of many of Manhattan’s major music venues, making it a no-fuss option for catching a concert and strolling back afterward. The area is lively but the rooms are well-insulated for those needing a quiet wind-down. Concierge and transportation desk services help with late-night travel, and the 12:00 PM checkout gives you time to recover after a big night.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking to stay in the center of the city
- Solo travelers ticking off a bucket-list show
- Couples making a romantic weekend of it
- Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space
- Budget-conscious music lovers who want style with convenience

Food and Drink Options

Hotel Edison is home to multiple dining options to satisfy your post-concert cravings. Bond 45 offers Italian classics like veal chops and seafood, while Friedman’s serves up comfort food with a focus on quality ingredients. Room service is available for limited hours, and while it’s not 24/7, nearby restaurants and delis are open late. Breakfast is available, so you can refuel after a late night.

Nightlife Options

The hotel’s own Rum House is a cozy, copper-and-wood bar that features live entertainment and a great cocktail menu. If you’re still buzzing after your show, you’re just steps from the buzzing nightlife of Times Square—whether that means a jazz club, rooftop bar, or mellow lounge.

What People Say

Guests love the unbeatable location and vintage charm. Many mention the clean, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and being able to walk to Broadway shows and music venues. The Art Deco aesthetic gets lots of praise, as does the ease of access to Manhattan attractions.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that certain rooms could use a refresh, especially the older Classic rooms. Because it’s Times Square, expect a bit of street noise—but most say it’s manageable. Room service isn’t 24/7, so night owls may want to plan ahead.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers who want to stay in the center of it all with a touch of vintage NYC style, Hotel Edison is a top pick.

A Great Times Square Option

Liked: You can't beat Hotel Edison's location or value. Our room, although a bit awkwardly configured, was quite spacious by NYC standards (was room 1828). Bathroom on the small side but very clean and lots of towels & toiletries provided. Hair dryer available on the shelf under the sink. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. The king-size bed was very comfortable and bedding felt plush. Since this is a corner room, had lots of windows and natural light. The breakfast option was a bonus (bfast doesn't seem to be standard in NYC hotels), but prepare to feel like cattle going through the chute to pick it up!
Disliked: --The ice machine on the 18th floor was broken, and evidently has been for quite some time. It was bone dry, and although I reported it every day, nothing was done and I'm guessing it still hasn't been done. Their solution was to tell us to get ice from the 2nd floor, but our key card would not allow us to access the 2nd floor. Just fix or replace the ice machine already, Hotel Edison!!--Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, but not, for some reason, the concierge desk personnel. I interacted with them three different times, and each time, they just couldn't be bothered and referred me to the main desk personnel. --I know you shouldn't expect much from the sofa bed, but ours was an old school one with a metal bar down the middle of your back. A new sofa bed or even just an updated mattress would be an improvement. --There's plenty of room for a dresser in the bedroom and it seems odd there isn't one.

You can’t beat your experience...

Liked: I have been staying at the Edison off and on for over 25 years. I love the location for the theatre and getting most any where with the ease of the subway lines close by! And I appreciate the grab and go breakfast and the hot breakfast for such a reasonable amount considering how prices have escalated in the last few years.
Disliked: I do wish I had a little refrigerator in the room but lots of hotels have eliminated that feature.

Liked: Staff were very friendly and did their best to change our room as the first one was tiny and the second one was dusty.
Disliked: The hotel is very dated. The carpets are lifting up and the furniture in our room was old and tacky with some of the veneer peeling off. The lamp shades were rickety and needs to be repaired. The bathroom was tiny and there were no hooks to hang up towels
