Liked: Straight out of the pages of House & Garden! Cody and inspiring deco!
Disliked: Nothing…but I wish there were body lotion on offer

Never again will I stay...

Liked: Good location for visiting Cathedral
Disliked: Room was too small, not value for money. Bath was to high to climb into the shower for me. Breakfast was terrible. Eggs Benedict arrived cold on cold plates. Full English was horrible. Eggs burned on bottom and snotty cold on top. Never had such a bad breakfast in all the hotels I have stayed at. Dinner in restaurant, prawns in chilly (starter) overcooked. Yuk, yuk, yuk.

A comfortable hotel with great...

Liked: The staff we were friendly and wanting to give good service and did. It’s location was central to the town centre and the Cathedral
Disliked: The hotel was a little tired in its decor in parts for a hotel costing nearly £300 a night. For example, there was limescale build up in the toilet and the painted surfaces (doors, skirting board) were chipped and looked they hadn’t been repainted for 4 or 5 years.

Disappointing - 2 out of 5

Trading on past glory with...

Liked: The building is attractive and very conveniently located. The room and garden round it was pretty and quiet if rather small for a so-called ‘suite’. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful; especially those on reception.
Disliked: Space is very limited - the bistro in particular is pokey and there is kitchen equipment ( fridges etc) in there. The food was disappointing ( strange flavour combinations and overcooked) but not bad enough to send back.In the room, the water in the hot tap was ridiculously hot whereas that in the cold tap was warm and took simply ages to run cold. Without a mixer tap it was therefore near impossible to do anything as simple as wash your hands comfortably. Poor ventilation meant there were signs of damp problems . The carpet in the room (cream in a room leading directly off the garden - really?) felt quite grubby. All in all, it did not feel like an iconic four star hotel in its prime.
