Excellent room and lovely staff

Liked: This hotel is one of the best I’ve ever stayed in. I loved the way the room was laid out with the bed in the middle - it felt like a throne. Everything about the room and the bathroom was modern and new. It was very clean. I loved the little touches that made my stay there stand out - the novel in the room by F.Scott Fitzgerald (not some trashy summer read), the free cans of water and biscuits, the eco friendly bottles of toiletries, the period telephone, the fridge. The staff were very courteous and friendly. The restaurant and bar looked amazing, but unfortunately I didn’t have the opportunity to use them.
Disliked: I couldn’t get the television to work. I could have called the staff about it, but I couldn’t be bothered. In order to go up to your room from reception, you have to go up the first floor, then change to a different lift. I was surprised that the reception staff didn’t inform us of this. There was a whole bunch of guests and not just me who were looking puzzled in the lift, and it came down to a lady who was delivering room service to kindly explain it to us!

Liked: Nice and clean, though the corridor did smell musky. The bed was comfortable and the room was good.
Disliked: When we got back at about 10.35 my wife was told that they stop doing cocktails at 10.30. Why is this if the bar is still open
