Historical hotel stay

Liked: The location could not possibly be more convenient! Right in the heart of the HR. The staff was super helpful and the hotel is dog-friendly. The Lobby deserves separate compliments - the fireplace and hang out area are magical for the evening to relax! They even had a jazz evening downstairs during our stay. The cafe is also a real treat!
Disliked: The hotel is historical, so one should understand that the rooms are relatively small (at least for a family with a child) and the bathroom is tiny. The bathroom amenities need a bit of fixing. The carpets gotta be changed as well

Delightful, especially if you like...

Liked: The hotel and staff are a delight, as is the cafe next door which does an amazing Scandinavian inspired menu. Great position on the main street too.
Disliked: It is quite close to the railway, so the VERY long trains which rumble past will keep light sleepers awake. They even provide ear plugs along with the shower gel.

Bad

Disliked: Really disappointed with my stay at Hood River Hotel on March 9th. Upon arrival they didn't have our original room available for the night so they stated they would 'upgrade us' which was total BS. They 'upgraded' to the Whiskey Tango room which is right next to a club that is blaring music until 2am. Upon reading reviews, the staff knew exactly what they were doing... this room has TERRIBLE reviews and in NO WAY is considered an upgrade. Whoever was staying in the Whiskey Tango room the night before definitely complained and they gave them our room leaving us to the loud horrible room. Completely ruined our vacation as we were up until 2am and couldn't go skiing the next due to lack of sleep. No way were we getting up at 6 to hit the slopes after 4 terrible hours of sleep. I would recommend finding a different hotel or if you do stay here, beware.
