Holiday Inn Winchester

Great stay; will be booking again next year for sure. Breakfast until 11am would be the only thing I would change; other than that it is a fantastic hotel.

Liked: Great service and welcoming.
Disliked: Breakfast should be served until later.

Liked: Excellent location clean throughout and nice friendly staff
Disliked: One particular member of staff (only) in the restaurant had no manners. 1.When asked about items on the menu she just refused to get involved or make a suggestion and displayed a disengaged rudeness with us.2. She literally grabbed the plates at the end of our meal, with no etiquette whatsoever, dragging them across the table and actually banged my arm, and when I said “careful!” She said absolutely nothing and just walked off. As a a result of her behaviour I opted to go to the restaurant entrance in order to make payment for our lovely meal to another waitress, as I did not want any more interactions with her. She is not a reflection of this lovely hotel and stood out like a sore thumb.

Disliked: The toilet was broken and it seemed like they already knew. The main toilets were also dirty through the night and morning

Disliked: Accessible room didn't have raised toilet seat or handles. Shower had these and a seat.

Disliked: They charged me for breakfast when already in my booking price so trying to get a refund also bed very uncomfortable

Disliked: Rooms a bit shabby, we came for a party and the down stairs bar was run a bit strange, with one person doing the drinks and another doing the till????.. making a wait for paying !!???Bar manager was quite rude

Liked: The rooms, overall , the facilities, and the surrounding environment. The hotel had a calm and relaxed feel to it.The male duty manager on Friday 13th was excellent in his assessment of the issue I had re the first room I was allocated. He also followed up after the event to see if I was satisfied.
Disliked: Air con was inefficient due to 'green' restrictions. A noisy fan isn't really the answer, so what can be done - expensive Dyson or such like fans. No fridge, therefore milk was warm with a weird taste, was it sterilised??The wet room is good for inclusively, but it leaks into the room, not nice for anyone. Eventually, it will cost new carpets. Typical of companies focusing on inclusiveness without practical assessment of the consequences because practicalities aren't measured. In fact, this comment will probably be ignored because one aspect over rides over others in KPIsSome of the part-time junior staff in the restaurant need stronger customer training. They should be able to hide their boredom/disinterest in their role to the customer regardless of how they are feeling!!The receptionist in the spa was also off-putting and seemed uninterested in her role on 14th June at 5.30, whereas the therapists were great.Booking.com needs to let customers know if there is an event on when you are booking, as this was why our Friday evening was so busy.The car parking was very expensive. I realise it was another private company, but it makes VOCO/ IHG company look greedy/ in collusion with the pricing policy.
