Easy and convenient

Liked: The shuttle services are excellent!

It was okay and we...

Liked: It was okay. Most everything was gone before we got there. We were late, arriving just before closing time. The coffee was excellent.
Disliked: Have staff that can speak English that I can understand and be friendly. A nice smile goes a long way. I have stayed at many IHGs through the years and am a rewards member & I was not recognized as one.

The stay was ok. Location...

Disliked: I was doing my 7 year old sleep over I have 3 balloons I wasn’t told until arrival that I could not bring the balloons in had I been told ahead of time that would have been less of a disappointment Also some of the food was cold and juice was completely watered down.

Hotel itself is great. But...

Liked: The hotel was fine - it's an airport hotel so it meets all expectations by being in close proximity to the airport and it was clean, comfortable, and expectedly equipped (ie, fridge, coffee, TV). The beds were comfortable and the rooms were large (we stayed in King + Sofa Bed combo). The staff were absolutely incredible - I hope Holiday Inn treats their people well, becuase all over the world the Holiday Inn (usually Express) staff go above and beyond.
Disliked: This is a complaint about Newark Airport, but also a little about the hotel's lack of communication: the airport shuttle does NOT drop you off at the terminal, but instead at the "air train" station, so you still have to lug everything (kids included) to the actual terminal. I assume this is some back-alley deal with the cabs so that people will choose to spend the money on a cab to get dropped off at the terminal instead of using the free (and mass-ish transit) shuttle options included in the hotel rates. Anyway, this was never communicated to us during the booking process and truth be told, I probably would not have booked the hotel had this been made clear.
