Holiday Inn Express Indianapolis South, Indianapolis

Wife and I enjoyed a mid-week, overnight getaway to Indianapolis to attend a concert at the Murat Theater. Downtown hotels would have been $50-$100 or more in price for the one-night stay. The added 10-12 minute drive into the city center was no big deal with plenty of parking available near the venue.

Liked: Good value for the money. Courteous and helpful staff. Room clean and comfortable. Breakfast added bonus.
Disliked: None noted.

Liked: The breakfast was fine, but could have had more options. The lobby area was clean.
Disliked: To start, at check in, we were given the wrong room type. I booked a king room with sofa bed and was originally put in a double bed room. The front desk moved us but it was an inconvenience. You could tell the bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly. The towels were not cleaned but just folded up and put on the counter. The counter was even still wet for some reason. The floor in the bathroom had obviously not been swept or moped. The tub needs fixed because it was backing up with water while the shower was on. The elevators were very sketchy and scared several people because the noises and movements it made were unsettling. The sofa bed mattress was so old and definitely needs replaced. There were also no bedding supplies for the sofa bed and we had to ask multiple times. The absolute WORST PART was that before we went to bed, we noticed a few baby ants on the table near the air conditioned/window and one on the sofa bed but killed them and hoped that would be it. When we woke up the next morning, there were SEVERAL tiny ants crawling in the sofa bed, all over the dresser counter, table, and in a small bag we had on the counter that had snacks and food products we had just purchased for our sons who had a baseball tournament the following day. Our entire team stayed at the hotel and I was mortified that I had to dump the bag out and clean a TON of ants out of my bag and throw ALL of my food away!!! But I was more upset that the ants were on the sofa bed, where my sons slept!!!!!! Thank God they didn't have any reactions or bite marks. We finally found the source was that the ants were somehow making their way through the window/air conditioning unit. The ironic part is that the night we stayed, I was in the elevator with the front desk attendee and other guests while the front desk attendee was explaining that the they had heard the other hotel across the street consistently has bug issues. I have photos and videos to prove this.

Liked: Friendly staff! Rooms were exceptional and well stocked with all necessities. Pool was fabulous
Disliked: A young female couple inappropriate in the pool. Lots of small children there and had to endure watching 2 young women make out made me uncomfortable.

What wasn't broken was uncomfortable.

Liked: It was somewhat affordable. It was near a few restaurant choices.
Disliked: The toilet was blocked when we arrived it took the staff 20 minutes to bring a plunger. The bed was the most uncomfortable one I have ever had the misfortune to use. The room was very small. The shower head was broken it would not hang. The coffee brewer was broken.

Liked: The breakfast was good plenty of options for all. Lots of coffee and tea choices as well. Fresh is always good!
Disliked: There was a big hole in the pavement right at the pull in. Could possibly be the city's issue as well but needs corrected.
