Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Houston-Downtown Convention Center By IHG

The bedding was exceptional; the pillows were firm; very good stay. Never ran out of hot water - took a long shower after the concert. I really like the proximity of the hotel to all of the entertainment venues and to the many restaurants and bars. The Leland House Bistro was very tasty.

Disliked: I struggled a couple of times to get my card key to unlock my door. At one point I had to go down and have them redo my key.

The location is fine for downtown and the indoor pool and jacuzzi in the winter is great for kids and adults. Rooms are large and nice - a little run down.

Liked: The indoor pool and jacuzzi, but it was forever checking in even though the staff was really nice.
Disliked: Just couldn't check in on time.

Front desk was very helpful.

Liked: It was perfect for an event at the Toyota Center. Not much else close for walking. We did manage to park and stay put for 3 days. Just not as close as I had anticipated. No shops real close either. Staff was friendly and the price was good. The hotel is under renovations though. On our check out morning they happened to be working right outside our door. The guys were nice but carrying everything halfway down the hall to get to the luggage cart was a pain. All in all it was a good stay and if there's another event at the Toyota Center I would go back. The indoor pool was very nice!

Liked: The staff was all so friendly! No issues there. Both gentleman were informative and always able to answer my questions. Very sweet and respectful! Staff made the visit better. Appreciated the free parking!! Location was perfect for Toyota Center.
Disliked: A few things- Maybe advising the hotel guests that there is a massive remodel and massive contraction on all 4 sides of the hotel when booking. Thought front entrance was closed because of all the construction work blocking. Contraction mess around the hall ways.Banging, thumping and what sounded to be like drilling on the floor above past 930 pm. Assume construction as another guest mentioned they had workers next to them throwing and moving things out. A few bugs found though out the room but assume it was due to the construction movements. Our bathroom smelled stale and had a square hole under the sink that had a piece of plastic or something attempting to cover. (Only notice because it was half open)

Disappointing

Clean and comfortable hotel, well...

Liked: Great location, clean and comfortable with nice staff.
Disliked: Only that the roadworks around the hotel made it difficult to get in and out of the hotel by foot and vehicle.

Very disappointed, because of how...

Liked: It was under construction. Very bad and dirty. They should have been closed for all the remolding they were doing. All the front entrance was under construction. No parking because of it. So dirty and hard to get around… the floors were dirty …
Disliked: All the dirty and hard to get around…
