Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Houston-Downtown Convention Center by IHG

The bedding was exceptional; the pillows were firm; very good stay. Never ran out of hot water - took a long shower after the concert. I really like the proximity of the hotel to all of the entertainment venues and to the many restaurants and bars. The Leland House Bistro was very tasty.

Disliked: I struggled a couple of times to get my card key to unlock my door. At one point I had to go down and have them redo my key.

The location is fine for downtown and the indoor pool and jacuzzi in the winter is great for kids and adults. Rooms are large and nice - a little run down.

Liked: The indoor pool and jacuzzi, but it was forever checking in even though the staff was really nice.
Disliked: Just couldn't check in on time.

Disliked: They charged me $50 hold and was charged to my bank account. When check out they did not release my hold and bank was charged. Called 7 days later to see why they charged me. As per receptionist it was not released when I checked out. Very inconvenient for me.

Liked: I liked the location as it was conveniently close to the Toyota Center. The room was clean and the breakfast had a basic selection.
Disliked: The staff was extremely rude and condescending. An employee made a mistake at check-in and charged me twice for my stay. When I tried to address the issue with another staff member, he was dismissive and argumentative. He didn't bother to check my account until I was on the verge of tears and other staff members were involved. Moreover, the manager didn't de-escalate the situation. She was rude and belittling, at some point insinuating I would "bite off a piece of the wall" from my room. The issue was eventually resolved, but I will never stay there again.

Liked: Within walking distance from the main attractions downtown, free breakfast and parking for one car.
Disliked: It stunk, the hotel looks like a run down place they slapped paint on to make pretty. The pull out bed was completely busted, good thing I brought an air mattress!
