The Spotlight on Holiday Inn Bloomsbury

Modern Comfort Just Minutes from London’s Music Scene

A sleek and welcoming base for concert-goers, Holiday Inn Bloomsbury blends contemporary comfort with a prime location in central London. Just steps from Russell Square Underground Station, it’s the perfect launchpad for nights out in Covent Garden, the West End, and beyond. With bright, air-conditioned rooms, flat-screen TVs, and on-site dining, guests enjoy all the essentials for a stress-free city stay.

Why Concert-goers love it

The hotel is just a 2-minute walk to the Tube, making trips to London’s biggest music venues quick and easy—even after a late encore. The area is relatively quiet at night, so you can wind down properly after the show. Plus, with a 12:00pm checkout, there’s no rush to leave after a late night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a central, convenient base
  • Solo travelers ticking off a bucket-list concert
  • Couples making a weekend of it in the West End
  • Fans who value peace and quiet after a gig
  • Budget-conscious music lovers wanting quality without breaking the bank

Food and Drink Options

You'll find several dining options to suit your schedule. Junction Restaurant serves an international menu in a relaxed setting, while Junction Bar offers lighter fare and snacks for a quick bite before or after the show. Callaghans, the on-site Irish pub, is great for a casual pint and a bite. The buffet breakfast, featuring both continental and cooked options, is ideal after a late night.

Nightlife Options

While there’s no live music in-house, Callaghans bar shows live sports and has a lively, social feel. You're also within walking distance of the West End’s many bars, pubs, and lounges, or just one Tube stop from even more nightlife in Soho and Covent Garden.

What People Say

Guests love the unbeatable location, especially for exploring or getting to shows quickly. Many mention the friendly staff, clean rooms, and the ease of hopping on the Tube. The breakfast also earns frequent praise for variety and value.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers mention that the rooms are a bit compact—not surprising in central London—but still comfortable. Others noted that décor is functional rather than flashy, but most agree it's clean and well-kept.

The Bottom Line

With its central location, easy transport links, and all the key comforts, Holiday Inn Bloomsbury is a smart pick for concert-goers who want to stay close to the action without sacrificing a good night’s sleep.

Totally totally upset and disappointed,...

Liked: It had a roof
Disliked: Dirty glass of n the bathroom with white running stuff that had dried on the middle section of the chrome toilet holder, the kettle was broken, net curtains were crumpled and creased to hell. But the best bit was the big mouse that scurried around the floor in the restaurant, where there’s 1 there’s more and nobody seemed to be bothered. The lady in the next table got up and left, a man with his daughter changed his mind about ordering food and left, the family behind had one of their mains cooked 3 times but didn’t get it right. We were about to leave when our food came. I was constantly turning around looking where the mouse was. This weekend away was a gift from my eldest son and his family which was ruined. Did we want to sleep there and have breakfast when they couldn’t make a decent Caesar salad. My son went to speak to the manager, he told us we didn’t have to pay for the meal or the parking and that he would contact yourselves for a full refund for the room and breakfast. My family, partner and I stayed at the Holiday Inn across from the O2 and it was 100% better than our experience at this hotel

Premium Price, Standard Room –...

Liked: I honestly did not like anything about this hotel. My experience was absolutely awful from start to finish. I booked an Executive Room with specific expectations, but instead, I was forced to stay in a downgraded standard room for two nights. The hotel failed to deliver what I paid for and showed zero effort to take responsibility or offer any fair compensation. The service was unprofessional, the management was unresponsive, and the entire stay felt like a complete scam. I would never return to this hotel and strongly advise others to stay away if they value honesty, comfort, and proper treatment.
Disliked: I had an extremely disappointing experience at Holiday Inn London Bloomsbury by IHG, and I feel compelled to warn future guests.I booked and paid for an Executive Room with two separate beds – a premium category – but when I arrived, I was told that room type was not available. Instead, I was given a lower-category standard room for the first TWO nights. After I complained, I was finally moved to the correct Executive Room, but only after enduring two nights in a room that was NOT what I paid for. What’s worse is that both the hotel and Booking.com refused to refund the price difference or offer any form of compensation. I paid for a premium experience and was given less – and no one is taking responsibility for this serious failure in service. This is not just about money – it’s about basic honesty and customer respect, which were completely missing in my experience. The response I received from customer service was dismissive, unhelpful, and completely unacceptable.I will never book this hotel again, and I strongly urge others to avoid it if they expect professionalism, transparency, and proper treatment. This was a major letdown and a clear breach of trust.

Great as long as you...

Liked: Room, Location and Breakfast all great.
Disliked: The Bar! I am a regular at this hotel and I have written many positive reviews, however on this occasion something wasn't quite right. There seemed to be an air of preoccupation by some of the staff. The worst example was the bar. On a trip to London it is lovely at the end of a great meal or visit to a show to be able to have a nightcap in the bar. I would expect this to be possible to about 1am, but even well before midnight this was denied. The only drink to be purchased was a soft drink or bottle of cider. No wine, no spirits. The cabinets were locked, as were those containing the available drinks, but the staff including the duty manager would not unlock the cabinets for wines or spirits. The only explanation was that it was "company policy". The staff I discussed this were completely indifferent about it. I would like to see a review of this company policy as would the other 20 or so people milling about all wanting to purchase a nightcap.

Overall, my stay was disappointing...

Liked: To be honest, I didn’t find much to like about the hotel. It was overall a disappointing experience. The only positive aspect was the location, which was convenient and well-situated. Other than that, I wouldn’t rate the hotel positively.
Disliked: There were several issues I faced during my stay at the hotel:1.Elevators: Out of the three elevators in the building, only one was working. The other two were out of service or under maintenance for the entire duration of my stay, which was nearly 10 days. This caused long waiting times and inconvenience.2.Noise and Renovation: There was ongoing renovation work on the floor, which created constant noise and disturbance—even on weekends. The noise was so loud at times that it became difficult to rest or sleep.3.Breakfast and Restaurant: The breakfast options were very limited, lacking variety. Additionally, the coffee machine was often broken, and overall cleanliness of the restaurant area was not up to standard.4.Staff Support: The hotel staff were unhelpful and unresponsive. Whenever I raised issues or asked for assistance, I did not receive proper support or solutions. Their attitude was not professional or customer-friendly.

Fairly reasonable price. Ok hotel

Liked: Outdoor seating area, room comfy. Clean and tidy.
Disliked: No real indoor bar area. No air con on downstairs on 2 very hot days. Tv in room didn’t work
