Beautiful building/Disappointed
Liked: The staff were delightful and very respectful. They were so much better than what the establishment is
Disliked: ‘The restaurant’It should be re Marketed as a diner serving bar food. The mushroom soup was like something out of a box.(took 1/2 hour to reach our table from ordering considering there 5 covers at this point including us)I asked for a vegetarian burger but was told the option was a mushroom? (can’t remember exactly) I didn’t want two mushroom dishes. So decided to have scampi instead.Again it was a further 1/2 ( by now they had 8 covers)My husband had hunter’s chicken which was lovely. Mine was so overcooked . They were like bullets thank God whatever was in there was cooked! However I was really sick when I got back to my room and all I could taste was greasy breadcrumbs !Please Please re think what you are serving ( especially in the price bracket and especially when you’re staff are really trying to make it a finer place)Kindest Regards Jessica Dunn

I would stay again but...
Liked: Haughton Hall has seen its hay day. Its a lovely old building but keep your expectations low and enjoy the cheap accomodation with access to a lovely pool, sauna and gym.
Disliked: The grout and sealant in my bathroom needed looking at. No hairdryer in the room.

Disliked: Bathroom was dirty, cobwebs, dust. Toiletries almost non existent. Toilet seat would not stay up.Impossible to close bedroom window. Very thin quilt on bed.All the staff made it feel like being in India.Wouldn’t stay here again.

Good
Liked: The history. The major part of the house was built in 1719, and it still has the charm of yesteryear.
Disliked: During a British heat wave these old guest houses suffer as they don't have cooling facilities.

Disappointing and feeling slightly misled.
Liked: The staff were friendly and helpful and the one positive in an otherwise disappointing stay.We only had breakfast at the hotel, this was ok and serve in good time.
Disliked: The photographs were misleading, the hotel might once have been a grand venue but it is now tired and in need of a lot of work.Walls and paint work are damaged, coming down the main stairs there is a broken window. Very few areas of the hotel lack signs of the need for attention. The rooms are spacious but again the decor is tired and dated and beyond the rooms the level of cleaning is poor.
