Very expensive and not very...

Liked: We have stayed at the Harbour Heights Hotel on numerous occassions while visiting family. We were put in a small room with limited view, although supposed to be a good one, with a cracked small balcony with weeds growing out of it. It was dark and dingy and expensive. We complained as it really wasn't a sea view, and we finally got a better room by paying an extra £25. So we ended up paying over £400 for the room and breakfast. This is very expensive for such a hotel. The staff were very busy with functions, well, it was a Saturday, and as a guest you felt you were something of a nuisance. The breakfast was OK, but self service toast, for instance, a reluctance to provide tea and coffee, and a very grumpy man serving who was really quite rude. For the price of the rooms, you would have expected better. The feeling was the staff really couldn't care much about guests, their attention seemed more focused on the functions. Personally we would never stay here again, the propery has a lovely position at the front, some nice rooms although a bit tired (our expensive room had a large stain on the carpet.. can't help what guests do, but not cleaned). The lounge and bar has been re-furbished but a bit naff, it is hard to tell who this hotel is for. We suspect they charge such high prices because they can as there isn't a lot of accommodation in the immediate area. Not for us. If on a leisure stay, not recommended and definitely not value for money or very enjoyable.
Disliked: As above really, the overall experience was not one of a team who cared much about guests, were just focused on getting through a busy time with functions. Very expensive and not very nice.

Disappointing

Liked: The staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and professional
Disliked: The hotel needs a refurbishment. The public areas are passable but our room was way over priced. The room has outdated fixtures and fittings. The furniture is worn and scratched and there were stains on the wall. We expected a much higher standard for the amount we paid.

Very disappointing

Liked: Our view from our bedroom was fantastic
Disliked: We paid a lot of money for our room and the room was very dated. Bathroom Needs updating, as bath was not that clean, need a new bath. We went to make a cup of tea in the tea pot provided and this had not been emptied out ( nice!!), still had water and tea bags in. My husband had to go to reception to get this cleaned! Bedroom floor had not been cleaned properly too. Bed was very comfortable and fantastic view from our very expensive room! We went to book the restaurant but had to wait until 8pm for a table. We declined the booking. Didn't seem to have enough staff! Tables outside were left for a few hours with dirty glasses on them. It was a very hot day.
