Hotel Description
This 17th-century-style country house is set in 200 acres of parkland. It is a luxury hotel with its own PGA Championship golf course an award-winning restaurant and a leisure center with pool sauna gym spa bath and steam rooms. Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club is in the Hertfordshire countryside 25 miles from central London. Stansted Airport is less than 40 minutes away by car. The historic building mixes original character with modern luxury. The traditionally decorated rooms have luxury beds flat-screen TVs work desks and laptop safes. Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club features Vardon's a sports bar with a large TV serving light meals and snacks. The traditional wood-paneled bar has a real fire and offers afternoon teas drinks and cocktails. Guests get 24 hours of free WiFi in the public areas. The more contemporary Cast Iron Grill has a terrace looking out over the 18th hole of the hotel's golf course. The hotel has free parking but does not have air con on property. The golf course was originally designed by Harry Vardon and later re-designed by Jack Nicklaus II. PGA professionals are on hand to assist and the hotel also offers a Golf Academy to help with tuition and improvement on golf.

Front sleepers beware - do...

Liked: The staff were friendly enough. The grounds are pretty.
Disliked: The bed was awful. It was so soft that just two nights there left me with back pain for the next couple of weeks. I know front sleepers are a minority, but we're talking around 10%, not 1%. For a place that wants to be a four star hotel (and one where you're paying hundreds of pounds per night) I was very surprised that no solutions were offered when I asked at reception. As a side note, the 4am fire alarm was not the most welcome way to start our anniversary. Communication around this could have been a lot better, we didn't hear any explanations or apologies offered for this.

Liked: we stayed for our anniversary and the staff couldn’t of done anymore for us and were so friendly and made our night amazing
