Disappointing
Liked: Pleasant surroundings
Disliked: Service charge on everything including the buffet breakfast.Although it was marked as discretionary I am sure many people have been ripped off with this. My room was £180 room only, then it was £18.50 for breakfast with a service charge...stay away there is better available for half the price. Booking.com you should chose your partners wisely

I would definitely not recommend...
Liked: The breakfast was okay, the service was appalling! Staff were not visible apart from one young man with blond hair who was very friendly and helpful.
Disliked: At dinner in the main restaurant where you had breakfast staff walked around with blinkers on. Meaning they would serve a table who had made an order then disappear they did not look around to see if another table needed drinks or were ready to order. The service was none existent.

Not good value for money...
Liked: Beautiful grounds and building itself.
Disliked: Perhaps not the fault of the property but the layout is a bit of a maze. It took us about 15 min wandering through the corridors and doors before we found our room. Something to be mindful of if you have limited mobility. The room itself was lovely and spacious but a bit dusty. The bathroom was old and tired, with complimentary chunks of hair decorating shampoo bottle in the shower. There are several restaurants at the hotel. We picked a la carte, which has beautiful interior. The food was pretty mediocre and overpriced. We were hoping to have a seat in the bay window with beautiful views but were told it was reserved. We did book in advance through reception but apparently that was not sufficient. It remained unoccupied when we left the restaurant. Not the end of the world, but it did impact our overall experience.
