Death by a million tiny...
Liked: The appearance of the hotel is nice. On the surface it looks clean and smells clean. The location is very good. The top floor has a pretty view of the city. The elevators don't have a long wait time and move fairly quickly. The breakfast was decent when there was food.
Disliked: The staff is pretty unhelpful overall. At the check-in neither my partner nor I could make out what the receptionist said as she mumbled off a list of something or other. We both asked each other what she said as we were walking back out to get our things. When we were going to leave the next day we asked the other receptionist if she had any information on Emerald Bay and whether or not it was possible to drive up there since it was snowing and she seemed annoyed that we were asking her instead of just googling it which is basically what she told us to do. Fine, but generally in pricier hotels the staff are much more accommodating than that.Somehow there were ants in our room.I thought the sliding barn door for the bathroom was a great idea since it saves so much space, but it isn't: you can't lock it, and it doesn't quite fit the whole doorway so if someone walks by or is standing at an angle they can see you on the toilet. Awkward when sharing a room with in-laws. It also closes on its own and bangs and bounces when it hits the end of the rail. Also there's a full-size mirror on the back of the door so when you're sitting on the toilet you're looking at yourself while doing your business. The toilet made a pretty horrid sound after flushing. Sounds a bit like some kind of animal squealing for a few seconds which sucks to wake up to.We turned the A/C / Heat unit off entirely because the room was already a comfortable temperature. It kept turning on, making a racket, and not actually blowing any air for a few minutes every hour or so.Parking is not free, but they have plenty of parking space.Pets cost $75 a night which is just robbery. The room cost is far too high for what they offer.
