The Spotlight on Hampton Inn By Hilton Manhattan-35th St/Empire State Bldg

Comfy City Stays Just Steps from the Action

Modern and convenient, the Hampton Inn By Hilton Manhattan-35th St/Empire State Bldg puts you right in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. With the Empire State Building just a block away, and some of NYC’s biggest concert venues within walking distance, this hotel balances location, comfort, and value. Expect a relaxed, no-fuss vibe with solid amenities like free Wi-Fi, a fitness center, and complimentary hot breakfast served daily.

Whether you're in town for a bucket-list show or a weekend of music-hopping, this spot makes it easy to enjoy everything the city has to offer—without the hefty price tag of luxury hotels nearby.

Why Concert-goers love it

Its central location is a major win—just a short walk from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station, making post-concert travel a breeze. Even after a late night, you can count on 24-hour coffee and tea service to get you going again. The hotel is tucked just off the main drag, offering quieter rooms than you'd expect this close to the action. Plus, with a 3pm check-in and 11am check-out, there's enough flexibility to fit your concert schedule.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to explore NYC by day and hit up shows by night
  • Solo travelers catching a once-in-a-lifetime performance
  • Couples planning a music-filled weekend getaway
  • Fans seeking a quiet spot to recharge after a loud night out
  • Budget-minded music lovers who want location without the splurge

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no restaurant on-site, the hotel offers a free hot breakfast—perfect for recharging the morning after a concert. The surrounding neighborhood is packed with late-night eateries, from pizza joints to 24-hour diners. Grab a bite before or after the show with no need for a cab. Though there's no bar, the 24-hour coffee and tea station in the lobby is a nice touch for night owls.

Nightlife Options

You're in Midtown Manhattan—so nightlife is never far. Whether you’re looking for live music venues, cozy jazz bars, or lively rooftop lounges, you’ll find them within walking distance. The hotel itself doesn't host entertainment, but you're minutes away from iconic NYC nightlife.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, clean rooms, and prime location near top landmarks and venues. Many mention how easy it is to walk to concerts and get back safely. The free breakfast and strong Wi-Fi also get frequent praise, especially for travelers on the go.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms are on the smaller side—typical for NYC—but still comfortable. Elevator wait times can be a bit long during peak hours, so give yourself a few extra minutes when heading out. Some guests note that interior-facing rooms have limited natural light.

The Bottom Line

A top pick for concert-goers who want a clean, comfortable base in the heart of NYC—without breaking the bank.

Great location, comfortable, clean!

Liked: Location is amazing. About a 10 minute walk to Times Square, so just a little quieter. Conveniently located a half block from Herald Square. Lots of places to eat nearby. Accessible on foot from Penn Station and Grand Central. Subway entries uptown or downtown within a block. If you’re willing (we were) you can walk to several sights from this location with ease. Breakfast is a huge perk! Coffee, tea, cocoa, iced water 24/7 in lobby area. We stopped off for water every time we left or returned. Friendly staff, willing to provide directions and recommendations, always said good morning when we arrived in the lobby, often seen standing outside to welcome guests. Room was cleaned daily, beds comfy. Clean facilities.
Disliked: This is not a complaint because I understand this is what you get in a big city, but it was a little cramped in the dining area…not a big deal. Staff was quick to clean up and turn over seating to guests as soon as someone got up. There are bath products in the showers: shampoo, body wash, and body lotion. There was no conditioner. I thought this was weird, and we ended up picking some up at a Walgreens nearby. I was traveling with my 18 year old son in hot humid weather…we have big hair that needs conditioning! Elevators can get cramped and can be slow, but this is all to be expected when visiting New York. I have stayed here before and would stay again.

Great place to stay in...

Liked: Very friendly and helpful front desk and staff. Loved the all day long free coffee and cookies time in the afternoon, and the option to use the microwave and eat in the dining area .The location is very good and close to buses and subway as well as many attractions, shops and restaurants. Just a 7 minutes walk to Penn station, a short walk to the theaters. We stayed 10 nights at the hotel (!) and would definitely recommend to others.
Disliked: Would very much appreciate if you could provide some vegan options, at least any plant based”milk”.

Great hotel, great location androoms

Liked: Nice, clean room, 2 lifts so waiting time was not too long. Helpfull personal. Everyday cleaning. We could store our bags till midnight, great!
Disliked: As always in USA, you have horrible food, you don't know what a good bread is and I get it, I don't even expect it. What suprises me, you don't have any vegetables for breakfast - cucumber and cherry tomatos, that is all I am asking for. Please consider, all europeans and vegetarians would love it. Terrible breakfast

The location was perfect for...

Liked: Breakfast was excellent, and the room was very clean and spacious.
Disliked: The breakfast area was a bit crowded, and there was no overhead light in the room or lamp on the desk, which made it a little difficult to work at the desk.
