Modern decor in Victorian building; breakfast - great all round choice.

Liked: Great hotel and good location for theatre; very clean room; fantastic we got an upgrade to bridal suite - would definitely reccomend.

Disliked: Room given was on the 4th floor. This was a struggle to go up the stairs as there was one lift, which I understand has not been working for few weeks. There were a number of other guests, particularly older ones like us, they were all complaining about the lift and the struggle going up and down the stairs. This information should be provided by Booking.com and/or on the website so that guest can make an informed choice whether to book the hotel or not. It is completely unfair to find yourself in this position at 10pm, when you cannot even find another accommodation and the payment is also non refindable.Finally, the recptionist took a pre-payment of £50 with a view that money will be refinded after checkout. But upon checkout, when requested for refund, the answer was you will be get this money back in 2 weeks time. Why?

Disliked: Staff are terrible - emailed them after my visit and don’t even get a responseInitial booking was cancelled I expectedly and when I called to ask why I was told my room was no longer available but there was an available room for 3 x’s the price! Looked on booking.com and spoke to customer services about the u expected cancellation and was i formed my room was still available so re booked at the original price. Clearly the hotel were trying it on£50 damage deposit is taken as a payment not as a pre authorisation and apparently takes up to 2 weeks to be refunded ?!!

Liked: The hotel last night was really bad.I pulled up and couldn't get in due to the whole hotel being taped off by the police due to an investigation scene. I parked in the court carparks over the raod and walked down to the hotel, who eventually let me in.They booked me into the room 202 which was on the second floor. None of the lifts were working and police walking everywhere.The pictures below is of the room when I walked into it!!!I went back down and complained, so they sent me up to the 3rd floor with a gentleman to show me my new room. The pass key they gave me wouldnt work, so he pulled his master card out to open the door. He then advised that if I wanted to go out of the room I would have to go back to reception to get another working key. The windows wouldn't close and all you could smell was weed in the room. There were gentleman up and down the stairs all night outside the room
