The Spotlight on Goodwood Hotel

Budget-Friendly Comfort Steps from London's Music Scene

Modern convenience meets old-school charm at Goodwood Hotel, a simple yet well-situated base in the heart of London. Located in Russell Square, this budget hotel offers no-frills comfort with a central postcode. You're just a short walk or tube ride from major music venues, museums, and the buzz of Oxford Street. With free Wi-Fi and rooms that include tea/coffee facilities and TVs, it’s a solid pick for travelers looking to save their cash for merch and tickets.

Why Concert-goers love it

One word: location. Being close to both St Pancras International and Russell Square Underground Station means you can get to almost any gig in the city with ease—even if you’re heading home after the encore. While it’s not a party hotel, that can be a plus if you’re after a quiet crash pad post-show. The check-in time of 14:00 is helpful if you’re arriving early to explore, though do note the 10:00 check-out if you’re planning a slow morning after a late night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable base
  • Solo travelers on a concert pilgrimage
  • Couples making a budget-friendly weekend of it
  • Fans who want a quieter space to recharge post-show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who care more about location than luxury

Food and Drink Options

While the Goodwood Hotel doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, you’re spoiled for choice in the neighborhood. Within walking distance you’ll find plenty of late-night eateries, casual cafes, and local pubs. Breakfast options are just around the corner—ideal for fueling up after a night out. No room service here, but that’s part of the budget-friendly vibe.

Nightlife Options

You’re a short hop from some of London’s best nightlife, from Camden’s live music bars to Soho’s iconic clubs. For a more relaxed experience, local pubs near Russell Square offer craft beers and a down-to-earth vibe—perfect for a post-gig debrief.

What People Say

Guests appreciate the excellent location, especially for connections to King’s Cross and central London venues. The friendly staff and clean rooms get frequent shoutouts, and reviewers often mention that the hotel is great value for money in an otherwise pricey city.

Areas for Improvement

Let’s be real—it’s not fancy. Some rooms have shared bathrooms, so double-check when booking if that’s a dealbreaker. The rooms are on the smaller side, and the decor is more practical than plush. But for the price and location, most guests find it a fair trade-off.

The Bottom Line

If you're after a clean, central, and affordable place to sleep after a night of live music, the Goodwood Hotel is a top pick for concert-goers on a budget.

Central London - great area.

Liked: Close proximity for work very early the next morning. Basically clean, but all had a feeling of needing a refresh. The black blanket on the bed worried me that it's not cleaned for every guest. Upon arrival - late at night - the guy at the desk had me check in to a room with a double bed - I had booked a single room - they had space and was a good gesture.
Disliked: Shared bathroom - but that was the deal - I knew in advance. The shower curtain needs replacing as it looks awful with the brown water staining at the hem line. The bed was at a slight jaunty angle as was the TV on the wall - felt a bit sea sick - LOL. Wasn't sure if I was in a recently cleansed crime scene - Jane Tennison may well have swept through!!!!
