The Spotlight on George Hotel

Classic Bloomsbury Charm Close to the Action

A traditional, budget-friendly hotel in the heart of Bloomsbury, the George Hotel offers a cozy and convenient base for exploring London's music scene. Just a 10-minute walk from King's Cross Station and steps from Russell Square, this Georgian townhouse-style stay is well-placed for fans heading to gigs across central London. With free Wi-Fi, hearty English breakfasts, and a peaceful garden square setting, it's a great mix of charm and practicality.

Why Concert-goers love it

Concert fans appreciate the central location—just one stop from many major music venues via the nearby Russell Square Underground. You can walk to the British Museum or hop on a late-night bus back from a gig. The neighborhood is quiet enough for post-show recovery, and check-in from 14:00 means you can drop your bags early and head straight out. While there’s no elevator, the hotel’s charm and walkability make up for it.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for an affordable London base
Solo travelers seeing that once-in-a-lifetime act
Couples turning a concert night into a weekend break
Fans needing quiet after a loud encore
Budget-conscious music lovers who want value without sacrificing location

Food and Drink Options

Enjoy a traditional full English breakfast served daily—a life-saver after a long night out. While there’s no on-site restaurant for dinner, you’re surrounded by walkable pubs and eateries in Bloomsbury. There’s no 24/7 room service, but plenty of nearby grocery shops and cafes cater to late-night cravings.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is quiet, you’re just a short stroll or tube ride from Soho, Camden, and other buzzing nightlife districts. Local pubs and student-friendly bars around Russell Square offer a low-key nightcap option.

What People Say

Guests love the location—close to transport, museums, and concert venues. Reviews often mention the friendly staff, clean rooms, and the value for money. Many also appreciate the classic townhouse atmosphere and the quiet neighborhood.

Areas for Improvement

There’s no elevator, so pack light if you’re on a higher floor. Rooms are on the cozy side, but most guests say they’re clean and comfortable. No air conditioning might be noticeable during warmer months.

The Bottom Line

The George Hotel is a charming, affordable base in central London—perfect for concert-goers wanting convenience, comfort, and a quiet night’s sleep after the show.

You get what you pay...

Liked: Great location , a few minutes to Russell Square and King’s Cross with some great cafes and restaurants around it The staff were very nice even though I wasn’t too thrilled with the hotel itself
Disliked: No air conditioning !! It was very warm in my room. lots of stairs to get to my room Hotel in excellent location, beautiful old Georgian terraced house on outside but very dated 90s redo on inside. Hotel felt tired ( on line pics made it feel much nicer than the tired look in person ) A sign said if I had booked direct I would get a 10% discount and free breakfast! I booked via hotels.com so I felt a bit ripped off that I’d pay an additional £12 if I wanted breakfast

Very friendly. No AC in...

Liked: Lovely receptionist, very friendly. No AC in the building but they offered a fan the minute I arrived. Superb location, close to the station and plenty of nice pubs and restaurants around.

Great location and a lovely...

Liked: The location is fabulous, next to a leafy park and close to st Pancras station and another smaller station with 200 stairs. It’s also pretty good value for london. It’s also super quiet but close to some main roads and a nice shopping area and good supermarket. There are a few bad things but overall this is a good place to stay
Disliked: It’s a tiny space, with no air conditioning, pretty hot in the summer time, no fridge and a very small bathroom.

Very good

Liked: The staff are very friendly, and the hotel is conveniently located near St Pancras Station. Overall, it’s a nice place, although the room was quite basic—but I didn’t expect much more in London at a reasonable price. The breakfast was average, though I should mention that English breakfast isn’t really my cup of tea. It’s a small, old-style hotel with actual room keys, which adds a bit of charm.
Disliked: There was no mini-fridge in the room, and in a hurry, I forgot my medication in the fridge at reception—but the staff kindly kept it safe for me.

Got better as days went...

Disliked: Staff a little rough at the edges, though warmed up with time. No one at the door when I arrived and I stood waiting and ringing the bell and the hotel's phone for a good 10 minutes until a woman finally arrived to let me in merely saying she had been having her tea. No lift and rather steep stairs. Fortunately as I explained I had a bad back the same woman went to look for some help to lug my suitcase up to the third floor.

not worth the money

Liked: Location is great, staff is kind. Breakfast was ok.
Disliked: I know better hotels in that area for similar prices but they were full, so I tried George Hotel. The hotel feels more like a “hostel.” The rooms have no air conditioning or no fridge, if you’re visiting in summer then you’re screwed. Our visit was during a heatwave so our room was intolerable. The room only has 1 small soap bar, 1 toilet roll and some cheap tea and nescafe bags. These are the only consumables they’re providing. I’m not looking for luxuries but there was no water, no tissues, no any essentials that make one feel “cared for”. You cannot even hang a “do not disturb” tag on your door because simply they don’t exist!!! :) therefore you may wake up with a total stranger entering your room out of nowhere for cleaning lol. It was a weird experience luckily we only stayed 3 nights. If it was any longer I’d scream.

Really enjoyed our stay, room...

Liked: Lovely building, and views from windows. Breakfast room and food was spot on
Disliked: Stairs cases need a bit of a tight up.
