George Hotel

not worth the money

Liked: Location is great, staff is kind. Breakfast was ok.
Disliked: I know better hotels in that area for similar prices but they were full, so I tried George Hotel. The hotel feels more like a “hostel.” The rooms have no air conditioning or no fridge, if you’re visiting in summer then you’re screwed. Our visit was during a heatwave so our room was intolerable. The room only has 1 small soap bar, 1 toilet roll and some cheap tea and nescafe bags. These are the only consumables they’re providing. I’m not looking for luxuries but there was no water, no tissues, no any essentials that make one feel “cared for”. You cannot even hang a “do not disturb” tag on your door because simply they don’t exist!!! :) therefore you may wake up with a total stranger entering your room out of nowhere for cleaning lol. It was a weird experience luckily we only stayed 3 nights. If it was any longer I’d scream.

Disliked: Stairs cases need a bit of a tight up.

Liked: Great central location. Room is compact but very clean and comfortable
Disliked: Stairs to room - no lift. The fact the rooms are spread over 3 original houses could be a little confusing

Liked: Great location for Kings Cross, just around the corner from some nice shops. Felt safe to walk about in the evening.
Disliked: No air con, fan requested which barely worked. Only one socket in room. No desk space to work. Room much smaller than expected.
