Convenient hotel in downtown with...

Liked: The staff were fantastic. Merry on the reception desk definitely lives up to her name, and was extremely helpful both with information about the local area and transportation, and for kindly upgrading my room to a beautiful corner suite. The room was great, clean and comfy and the location is walking distance to restaurants, ferries, bars and shops. The rooftop view from the hotel is worth checking out on the top floor.
Disliked: The shower pressure was pretty bad, and there weren't many outlets near the bed for chargers. The hotel is old and rooms show their age.

Overpriced tiny room! Avoid booking...

Disliked: The 'Standard' room was very small and not worth the money we paid. Having just spent 14 nights in 8 different hotels during our road trip, we thought we'd booked a decent room for our last two nights in the US. Really disappointed to find the room was tiny, with no window view (smoked, wired glass you couldn't see through, like a prison cell) and lights activated by motion. Disturbed sleep when either of us needed to use the restroom because the lights came on when you moved! The door to the room is glass and lets in light from the hallway and the AC is either on or off. Too hot, then too cold. Two very expensive disturbed nights. That room should not cost more than about $80. We paid over $300 per night for a very poor room indeed.

Great place, great personnel

Liked: The rooms are great very spacious and comfortable. Very clean and you dont hear anything. I will definitely stay at Gaslamp Plaza next time I am in SD.

Liked: Clean and comfortable, front desk staff were super helpful, can be a bit noisy at night because it's right in the action, so great location.

Liked: The location is great but the room we got for the price was not it last time I stayed the was the much better experience than this one
Disliked: The room was super tiny we could barely walk in the room and my husband and me bump into each other.

Disliked: It would have been nice if the top floor had a bar or a small café where we could buy food such as breakfast. The hotel price does not include breakfast.

Liked: Very friendly staff
Disliked: The shower was dated, needed re-caulking. The lights would go off, as if they were on some sort of timer. This happened in the setting room abd bathroom.
