Very modest hotel with dining...

Liked: The rooms have a cute vibe with lots of maps
Disliked: We asked for a quiet room but got one facing the main street and on a lower level. The rooms are tiny and the bathroom is even smaller. The is the size of a cruise bathroom. You cannot use the sink without splashing water all over the floor

A hotel of broken promises...

Liked: Staying at Freehand NYC was an adventure, to say the least. I usually like focusing on the positive aspects of a hotel before I jump into the negative, so I'll try that. Positive:*location- the hotel is in a nice area with easy access to food and various bodegas. *staff- check in was smooth, front desk staff very friendly. *beds- fairly comfortable. Not a pile of rocks but also not a pile of feathers, comfort falls somewhere in between. *beautiful charm- I could see why some peopleRefer to it as an upscale hotel. A lot of the interior vibes were very modern and upscale.
Disliked: Negative:*each tv was supposed to have Smart TV features: Hulu, Netflix, etc. the hotel seems to use a chrome cast to make this happen. Our TV did not have a chrome cast so all we had access to was basic cable. When we spoke with the front desk about it they advised that they could send an electrician up to look at it. Why the needed an electrician, I still don't understand.Anyways, to keep a long story short, they never fixed the issue. We spoke to the front desk about possibly switching rooms and they told us "many of the rooms have this issue". So, we went out and bought our own smart tv plug in to use.*Bathroom- the bathroom was a death trap waiting to happen. Very small with no room to move around, picture yourself shuffling side to side. The shower has a curtain that is too high so water literally goes everywhere, there was water on the toilet from a 10 minute shower. My husband, who has 2 slipped disk and a pinched nerve, has to be very careful. After having almost slipped 3 times, I ended up covering the floor with all the towels we had. I requested new towels but ultimately had to go downstairs to get them.I informed the staff about this death trap and asked if they had an accessible room or one with a bath tub, again their answer was the same: "most of the rooms are like that".So, for the week that we stayed we had to keep 5 or 6 towels on the bathroom floor just to make sure neither of us took a fall.*peloton bikes- so, the gym is advertised to have peloton bikes. I personally love spin bikes and have been using a Nordic track with iFit. I've stayed at a few hotels that also use this spin bikes and I've never had an issue. However, with the peloton, only one bike powered on (they had two). When I went to use the bike, I had to create an account and pay $12 a month to have access to even a basic manual ride. Sorta a crappy situation there. So, I ended up moving on with my day very disappointed.
