Alan P, visiting Duchess Theatre London Fri, 7 March 2014
Convenient for theatreland/Covent Garden with enough eating places in the vicinity to make up for no food facilities in the hotel.
Liked: Good sized room (number 42) with adequate coffee and tea supplies; large bathroom was bright and airy.

Liked: location was great & staff very friendly
Disliked: The accommodations were fine, but the room was not as advertised on the website. The pictures on the site showed cute decor & luxurious bathtubs. I speculate there were those rooms somewhere in the hotel, but my room was very functional, simple, and basic hotel. And there was no bathtub, which was a surprise. Nothing wrong with the room, just different than expectation set by the photos used online.

Needs lots of improvement to...
Liked: Perfect location within walking distance from the underground and Covent Garden shops and bars
Disliked: - Seriously tired rooms in need of updating and some TLC. The carpet and curtains had stains on them, the bathroom tap only had hot water or warm water (the cold tap ran warm), one of the bathroom floor tiles was cracked, there were water stains in the shower and there were cracks in the walls around the bedroom.- Mouldy bathroom. There was mould inside the shower and on the ceiling, this really isn’t acceptable in any hotel. - Noisy rooms. There were no signs in the corridors asking guests to be quiet and the walls were very thin, with rooms close together. As a result we were kept awake by various guest conversations in the hallways. - Beds uncomfortable. The large bed was actually just two single beds pushed together, with no addition of a mattress topper or anything to help with the gap in the middle. I wouldn’t expect this at a hotel charging premium rates. - The AC unit was noisy and did not too much to cool the room. You can’t open the windows as it’s noisy outside, so would rely on a good AC unit.On checkout, we simply handed back our keys and we’re not asked about how our stay was by reception. We did not have an opportunity to provide any feedback about our stay.

Great stay for one night,...
Liked: Great location on a quiet pedestrian street, our room overlooked a quiet courtyard. Lovely room and very friendly staff.
Disliked: Shower was really weak and the cold tap didn’t work in the bathroom.

Lovely hotel, excellent customer service;...
Liked: After roaming around England for four weeks, this was my last night in England before long haul flight back to Australia.I just needed a single bed, ensuite room, close to the tube back to Heathrow. My room at the Fielding was fabulous - it was well proportioned, quiet and very comfortable. Vibrant Covent Garden was a very short walk away, as was the tube station.A standout for me was the customer service - I arrived well before check-in time and was warmly welcomed. Leaving my luggage so that I could enjoy the rest of the day in London was no problem at all. Check-out was 11am the next day so this gave me time to enjoy a leisurely cafe breakfast and the concierge recommended a short walk to cafes close by (I found 'Drury', which was fabulous!!). After checking out, I was able to leave my luggage again (was due to catch tube around 4pm). The professionalism, friendliness and helpfulness from the concierge was just lovely - very happy to help / guide without reservation.
