Liked: Stayed lots of times and it’s always excellent in every way. Comfort, breakfast, staff.
Disliked: Unfortunately, on this occasion, there was terrible noise at about midnight that woke us up then kept us awake for hours. It sounded like someone was doing work in one of the rooms.

Fantastic hotel with great food...

Liked: We stayed at the Fence Gate Lodge for two nights with breakfast, and ate twice at the hotel restaurant. The rooms were extremely clean, well presented, with great bathrooms. I could not fault the service from any of the team, from the reception, housekeeping, breakfast service, to pub and restaurant staff. They were all very responsive and polite, and great ambassadors for The Fence Gate. The breakfast was great value and really tasty (home made sausages! Superb black pudding). We ate in the evening at the restaurant. The service, again, was exceptional, and they were responsive to food requirements, clearly advising where there might be an issue. When the food arrived, it was excellent and extremely tasty. The choice of wines was great. We had a family gathering of 12 people on the Sunday, and yet again, service was top rate and so professional. They looked after us very well - we had elderly people with us (with a walker) and they were very sensitive to their requirements. Again, great food, and very professional service. I could not fault them in anyway. I loved the ambience at the hotel, and restaurant / pub; casual and quirky, and very well presented. The whole team were fantastic, in fact, although the rooms were great, the service excellent, the food superb (full marks to the catering staff), the staff were so good that it makes you want to stay there again.

Liked: Really nice, we had the suite room which had a living area / kitchen. It was worth every penny with a toddler. Everyone was so helpful, the room was really clean and quiet at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was good!
Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: The sausages were poor (pretty tasteless and too processed in texture) but that's not the fault of the hotel but the suppliers. Otherwise, it was fine
Disliked: We chose the wrong night to stay for the fist night as there was a noisy party until 11.00pm, but the staff warned us about it and were apologetic. The second night was excellent.
