Wonderful view from the top...

Liked: Loved the premium with wifi and snacks - despite the crowd for the evening cocktails, the bartenders were so polite and quick with wonderful drinks - morning breakfast was awesome and again, the staff was so polite and quick to act on anything that one might need.
Disliked: When we were checking in, it would have been nice for the manager to act as if he were really interested in our response to his question - the phone rang and he just turned and started talking to whoever was on the phone - no "one moment" or look of apology - just turned and started a conversation with someone else! Also - would have been nice to be told that the key cards scan - that they do not slide in the door - thankfully a passing guest showed up how to use the keycard. When we entered the room there was no light that would come on with any of the wall switches, Kind of difficult finding the switch on the lamps in the dark - would have been nice to either have a small light already on or to have it connected to a wall switch as soon as you come into the room.

Great location adn friendly service

Liked: room was very spacious. Clean. Room we were given was close to elevators and main lobby but we didn't hear noise which was nice. Loved the kitchenette space. The valet was so friendly and efficient. We love that the hotel is close to the Civic Center
Disliked: Cost of room was high and we ended up with view of rooftop. By 630 the happy hour food was picked over. We wished the pool area had a hot tub. We had asked the shuttle bus driver for a ride and he said sure, but then disappeared, so we ended up walking to our location. Luckily it was not raining too bad. We also thought the room could have used some updating.

Higher cost doesn't mean higher...

Liked: The ladies making the omelets at breakfast we spectacular. The food was excellent.
Disliked: I was a guest from 3/1/19-3/3/19. We are from Clear Lake, IA and we like spending time in Des Moines because it reminds us of home. It was my birthday weekend and I wanted to feel like Queen and stay at Embassy. By us being on the 7th floor none of the hotel staff on the ground floor could hear what was going on up there. Around 8 pm on 3/2/19 (my actual birthday) a family with small children we're playing baseball or kickball in the area in front of the elevators. We were in room 701 so that was right outside of our doors. Several times children had ran into the window next to our door in an attempt to get the ball. When we got home, my 12 year old told me that kids were knocking on the doors of random guests while we were bringing in the rest of our things from parking structure. From 2-4 a.m., a kid had gotten locked out of their room so he proceeded to donkey kick the door for about 45 mins until the numbers came off of the door. I had already called the front desk about the incident that happened earlier that evening, then this happens. I felt because I had children, I was put on a floor with other children. I assume because of noise reasons. I'm sorry but my children know how to act in public. Especially at "ritzy" hotel such as the Embassy. My daughters are in girl scouts. So we're in Des Moines at least 3 times a year for their events. We always stay hotels, and this was our first time staying at Embassy suites. Needless to say, I will not be staying again. Not because of the noisy guests, but because of how the staff handled it. There was no consideration for the other guests and the hotel did nothing about it. I considered the Embassy suites to be an upscale hotel with room service, the atmosphere, and the restaurant. But it just goes to show you that higher cost, doesn't mean higher quality. Very disappointed. Maybe I have to ask to be put on a floor with no children. ????
