Elmwood Hotel

The bed was sooooooo squeaky I couldn't sleep for fear of waking up the next room, as every slight movement made this bed creak and squeak. Also, very small bathroom for the price. The room could have been more modern, but you pay for the close location to the train station and underground.

Liked: Location; front desk was friendly.
Disliked: The bed.

Disliked: Very small room with one side of double bed pushed against the wall. Facilities were old and tired. There was little comfort.

As a solo traveller the...

Liked: Friendly reception staff on duty 24 hours.Very near three main railway and tube stations and for walkers many of the sites to see/visit are within about an hour away maximum,several actually nearer. I didn't have breakfast .The room was small and basic but was fine for a solo traveller like me who spent all day out and about London and just wanted a bed at night and a shower in the morning.
Disliked: Took me a few minutes to work out how to open the window but got there in the end.My room was at the back and there was a repetitive thumping sound which went on from early until about 8pm.Not sure if it was machinery in the hotel or perhaps from the building work going on in the area.I found it a bit annoying for the first day but by day two had got used to it.
