The bed was sooooooo squeaky I couldn't sleep for fear of waking up the next room, as every slight movement made this bed creak and squeak. Also, very small bathroom for the price. The room could have been more modern, but you pay for the close location to the train station and underground.
Liked: Location; front desk was friendly.
Disliked: The bed.

Ideal for travel.
Liked: Location to St Pancras station. Literally a few minutes from the station. The staff on the desk were friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Room was pretty small, but in London where space is a premium, it sufficed.

Avoid this hotel at all...
Liked: I did not like being down in the basement. The smell of damp was overwhelming. I have never stayed in a room so small in my life and never had one of those damp collecting things in a hotel room before. The bathroom was so tiny that only one person could fit in at a time unless if you were a family. My worst ever hotel stay. I paid on arrival before I had seen the room, in the morning they tried to get additional money from me which I refused to pay. I hope after Booking.com read this review they remove the hotel from their listing.
Disliked: I thought it was clean and the bed linen was beautifuly laundered

Close to Kings Cross/St Pancras
Liked: Proximity to Kings Cross/St Pancras and Underground - only about a 3min walk away and lots of surrounding shops & places to eat. Staff moved us to a new room when I complained about the smell in the original room we were given. The bed was comfortable, but unfortunately it had a plastic waterproof sheet which made a noise & made it very hot & sticky to sleep on.
Disliked: The rooms had a pungent smell, but this was much less prominent & more tolerable in the room on the upper level rather than the basement. There was no lift so carrying 4x bags up several narrow flights of stairs was challenging. Very noisy on the first night from local residents late at night, but the second night was quieter.Keys needed to be left at reception, but this wasn’t a problem as it was staffed 24/7.

Cupboard under the stairs
Liked: Perfect location for our needs as we had a train to catch from Kings Cross. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Disliked: ‘Double’ room was very, very tiny. 2 people with 2 large suitcases crammed into a room that was far more suitable for a single traveller. Just met our needs for one night, but not good for a longer stay. Now I know how Harry Potter felt in his cupboard under the stairs.
