The Spotlight on DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square South

Modern Convenience in the Heart of Midtown

Modern, comfortable, and right in the thick of Manhattan’s energy, DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square South is a top pick for concert-goers looking to stay within walking distance of iconic NYC venues. Located in the vibrant Hell’s Kitchen district, the hotel puts you just steps from Times Square, Madison Square Garden, and more. Expect stylish, air-conditioned rooms with cable TV, private bathrooms, and all the essentials for a city break.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re under a 10-minute walk from some of the city’s biggest stages – no subway hassle required. The 24-hour front desk makes late-night arrivals easy, and the neighborhood stays active well into the early hours. Though it’s in the heart of the action, rooms are designed to offer a quieter retreat after the encore. With check-in at 4:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM, there’s time to recover after a big night out.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends heading to a concert together
  • Solo travelers ticking off a bucket-list show
  • Couples planning a music-filled NYC weekend
  • Fans who want a quieter spot to crash after the show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers wanting central access without paying sky-high prices

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, the Midtown location means you’re surrounded by late-night food options, from classic NYC pizza to trendy gastropubs. The hotel offers vending machines and is close to 24/7 diners and delis. Breakfast is available nearby if you need a slow start after a late night.

Nightlife Options

You’re in the perfect spot to explore NYC’s nightlife. Whether you’re looking for a chill bar with local brews, a rooftop lounge, or an afterparty spot, it’s all walkable. The hotel itself is more of a quiet base than a nightlife hub, which many guests appreciate after a loud night at a gig.

What People Say

Guests love the super-convenient location for concerts and Broadway shows, with many noting how easy it is to walk to major venues. The friendly staff, clean rooms, and overall value for the location get frequent shoutouts. Travelers also appreciate the quietness of the rooms despite the hotel’s central setting.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms can feel a bit compact, especially for groups with lots of luggage. Some guests mention that elevators can get busy during peak times. If you’re expecting luxury amenities, this isn’t that kind of stay — but it delivers where it counts for concert fans.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers wanting a no-fuss, centrally located stay with comfort and quiet after the show, DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square South hits the right notes.

Overall, I really enjoyed my...

Liked: I booked a King room and Double Room with Two Double Beds. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and modern. The beds were large and comfortable for sharing with my family including a small child. The staff were friendly and helpful when we left our bags with them before check-in and after check-out. The best thing was the location which is down the road from Times Square!
Disliked: Although I set my expectations for the room sizes, they still felt very small. It was very crammed with our suitcases in the room and I had to squeeze past them just to get around the room.Speaking of space, the reception was also very crammed with visitors suitcases and it felt like a hectic marketplace.

In conclusion it is a...

Liked: The location is perfect. 10 minutes walk from Penn train Station. 5 minutes walk from Penn subway station.Clean rooms and bathrooms.Stuff is friendly and helpful.Breakfast is very good in comparison with other hotels in USA.The rooftop bar from the 30th floor has a very nice view of Manhattan.
Disliked: The room is small. The fridge in the room is noisy. The stuff has checked the fridge and they told me this is how it works normally. If you book a room with Empire State Building you need to know that it is noisy at night because the 8th avenue is right in front of the window.

Horrible

Liked: Probably the location but it didn’t matter. Booked this hotel because it was near Edition Times Square, our old hotel for the last day as they were fully booked. Regretted immensely.
Disliked: The staff at the reception (black man, very huge on Wednesday evening 06/08/2025) is blatant and obviously racist. Pretty funny especially since he’s the minority here. First example I’m leaving is when we checked in and there were a white European couple in front of us, same amount of luggage and arrived at the same time. This heffalump offered them 4 cookies, 2 for the girl and went back to the man to give him two more. And next was us, obviously expected the same right? WRONG. Asked us if we wanted cookies, gave us two, gave us a shitty look. Again, it’s not about the cookies but you guys have so much to learn from your peers in London. We got a shit ton of cookies every time we passed by. And when we really didn’t want it, we said no and they always spoiled us with something else.Second, racist guy also gave us a room on the fifth floor and even the bell boy says that they’re all RACIST here and always does this. So go figure. After asking we were given 17th floor. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Not one bit. It’s like a cheap motel vibe. Somewhere I would never stay again. My neck had rashes the second day. Definitely unclean pillow cases and the rooms smelled so weird. If you want cheap go ahead I guess

Appreciate it is very close...

Liked: Views from rooftop bar were great
Disliked: Room was very small - we had two large suitcases and nowhere to unpack them or store them.Parking for taxi drop off was dangerous - basically there is no place for them to stop apart from the inside lane of the carriageway - you then have to cross a busy cycleway to get to the sidewalk.
