We all fell in love...

Liked: The location, the staff where so helpful the food was excellent

Grand building, welcoming staff, very...

Liked: It's a grand building with handsome, imposing public rooms and staircases. Staff were very welcoming and efficient. Good quiet night's sleep. You can open the bedroom window. Even had an oblique view of the cathedral. Breakfast buffet had all the standard things, all done really well - eg fried eggs with the yolks soft, very tasty sausages, black pudding, juicy tomatoes and mushrooms, crispy bacon. Good value especially if you book it the night before (25% cheaper).
Disliked: Room small and not very comfortably arranged (though fair enough for a cheap single!) Uninspiring decor. Old fashioned shower controls, hard to work out how to get hot water.

Liked: Lobby was very pretty
Disliked: Not enough parking; had to pay to park down the street in pouring rain. WiFi didn’t work in rooms. Breakfast and room service both substandard.

Good location for City centre...

Liked: Great location for city and station, nice room.
Disliked: Glass collection at 5.45am, crashing around outside, woke me up!

For the price I would...

Liked: The hotel was centrally located and this made everything easy to get to.
Disliked: We stayed on the 4th floor and the elevator only runs to the third floor. The bathroom was larger than the bed room so there was not a lot of space for luggage. Also no A/C and being on the 4th floor and the fact that heat rises it was very warm. So we had to sleep with open window and hear the seagulls and church bell battle it out for supremacy. The room also could have used a little TLC due to the fact it had chipped paint and the wall paper was coming off the wall.

Definitely will return

Liked: We loved access to the swimming pool .
Disliked: Only down size was the building work outside . But we understand its necessary

Liked: When I went to my room it was so embarrassed and shocked to find someone in the room

Liked: Clean, friendly staff.

Good hotel for a night's...

Liked: The staff were lovely, the beds were comfortable, there was a very good breakfast, and the location was central with its own secure car park
Disliked: The public areas were fine, and the hotel itself exuded Edwardian grandeur, but the room itself was in need of renovation, with some lights and power points not functioning and the shower was fierce and temperamental
