Good bed, good people

Liked: The front desk clerk was so helpful when I needed a box to carry a sculpture that had been given to me that would fit under a seat on the plane. She actually took something out of a box that was the perfect size so that I could use it! The bed was very comfortable, the shower was good. The shuttle driver was very nice, too.
Disliked: The only slight negative was the weird lighting set up. No overhead lighting in the main part of the room, only lamps on each side of the bed and an overhead near the door. The bathroom light had a motion sensor, so if you needed to use it in the middle of the night, you got blasted with harsh light that made it subsequently hard to get back to sleep. The light in the closet would automatically come on too, but it wouldn't shut off when you closed the closet door.Also, did not like that breakfast was an extra charge instead of being automatically included in the room price.

Pleasant one-night stay at a...

Liked: The hotel is within walking distance of a light rail station, a 7-Eleven, and different kinds of restaurants. The free airport shuttle runs every 30 minutes, but you'll need to contact the front desk to reserve a spot. Depending on how busy the shuttle is, you might be able to ride at the next scheduled time.My room was very neat and clean upon arrival. Water coming out of the shower was reliably hot.The lobby has nice tables and chairs typical of Courtyard hotels. The food from the bistro was delicious: I had a quesadilla for dinner and a sandwich for breakfast and they were both delivered hot and fresh.You can ask the front desk with its friendly staff for late check-out, which is free up to a certain time, depending on how busy the hotel is.
Disliked: The light above the walk-in shower will turn off automatically, so be sure to switch on the mirror light before you take a shower. The AC has no option to keep the fan running constantly — this might be an issue if you can hear cars driving on 4th Street to the northeast. The blinds has some light leaking on one side only during the day. There were no ethernet ports available, but I had no issues with the Wi-Fi.It would be nice to have room service to deliver food ordered at the bistro straight to my room without having to wait at the lobby, but as someone who is physically active, I don't mind the extra walking.When I called the hotel to request a shuttle pickup from SJC around 6:45pm, no staff was available to answer my call for a few minutes, which made the pre-recorded menu prompt to repeat.

Liked: Massive gym — plenty of equipment and free weights.
Disliked: The staff training was inadequate. Asked for toothbrushes, said we had to go down to the front counter to pick them up, when we got down there they said they had no toothbrushes — but then tomorrow morning they had them? Confused.
