Disappointed for the price I...
Liked: Extra sink, mini fridge, and microwave in the room was a pleasant surprise as was the separate bedroom for the second bed.
Disliked: Not enough parking at the ?new building,? both beds in the room uncomfortable. One had a dip in the middle and the other had a hill in the center. The bathroom was very outdated even though the rest of the room had been updated.

Convenient for our needs.
Liked: Convenient to beach and downtown.
Disliked: Average standard room in a nondescript part of town.

We would stay again but...
Liked: Bed was comfortable..room was always clean when we came back. Loved the makeup mirror and blow dryer!
Disliked: Rooms a little small. Bathroom door hit toilet everytime it was opened. Kinda awkward..would love a continental breakfast to be included in the price.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay....
Liked: I liked how compact the room was. Also, I enjoyed how there was a large mirror so you can see your entire outfit.
Disliked: The bed could have been comfier.

Due to so many 'negative'...
Liked: Room 235 was clean and had 'hardwood floors', which is good since this hotel does 'allow dogs', etc...
Shower worked well; tub 'drained well' :-) TV was excellent with 'huge selection of channels', as well as a 'great picture' :-)
Check-in staff person was very attentive. The 'night desk' person also responded quickly to my 'complaint about a barking dog' in adjoining room.
This property is also only a 'short walk' from Pacific Ave, downtown Santa Cruz.
There is 'sufficient parking' on premises, so that was definitely a 'plus'.
Disliked: Wish this hotel 'did not allow dogs' or any pets. We'd requested a 'quiet room', but hotel unfortunately put person(s) with a 'dog' in nearby room :-( They should be more attentive when placing people with pets away from those requesting 'quiet'. We had a problem with 'loud barking dog' in adjoining room. The 'night desk' person did quickly respond to my 'complaint' and we only heard the 'dog barking' a few more times after the owners were spoken to by 'staff member'. Since this hotel is located at intersection of Ocean St and Soquel Ave. the traffic noise is quite loud, especially when motorcyclists and other 'loud vehicles' rev it up, etc... Emergency vehicles going through intersection with 'sirens blaring' also can be disturbing in the 'middle of the night' :-( Check-out person was busy 'taking a reservation' when I was trying to leave hotel; she did not bother putting that person on 'Hold' to let me complete my transaction, which I did not appreciate.
