It was a great stay...
Liked: Hot breakfast was great but could use a little more variety. room was clean and beds comfortable.
Disliked: Maintenance. A very new looking motel of this quality should not have glaring damage or patches. sink drain didn't drain properly.

Convenient hotel for visiting Tarpon...
Liked: Front of house check in. Contemporary styling. Breakfast choice.
Disliked: The air conditioning unit in the room would not switch off. Even when the cool fan was turned off and the unit set to off, the compressor stayed on. This was annoying!

Bad
Liked: The Comfort Inn New Port Richey is a new hotel very close to the downtown shopping area. This is where the good ends.
Disliked: It would have been a great location for us, however, the hotel did not honor our reservation. After reviewing the hotel policies, I reserved this hotel using Booking.com. On my reservation it clearly states, "Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in." Upon check-in, however, the hotel clerk took my ID and began to scan it into the hotel's computer/database. For those of you not aware, there is an abundance of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) on your ID without even accessing the chip information that some IDs have. Businesses have no need for this information but gather it because it is financially valuable to them; you should guard this information as if it's gold! When I questioned why my ID was being scanned into the hotel's system, I was told it was their policy and that I could not check in (after a very long day of traveling) without allowing them to do so. Further conversation on this topic identified 1) that the hotel has no good reason for doing this (e.g., "...in case there's damage to the room..." except they also collect a damage deposit), 2) that they hold your information for at least one year (most likely forever), 3) that they would not honor my reservation and the policies I agreed to, and 4) that I would forfeit my deposit (one night's stay) if I chose not to allow them to gather my PII. Needless to say, we left and contacted Booking.com who assisted us with this issue and, when they could not get an answer from the hotel, cancelled and refunded all charges for this reservation. Thank you, Booking.com! Again, there is no reason that a hotel (or nearly any other business) needs to scan your ID; they are gathering PII that compromises your safety and security. And, No!, other hotel chains do not scan your ID upon check-in! Go somewhere else that will not breach your privacy.

Great. Will stay again. (Not...
Liked: Used to reside in New Port Richey so I’m always sketchy about staying in the area when I come visit. This location was very nice and up to date. The new Historic NPR area is great now, and the staff was very nice during all points of our stay. Didn’t see a single bug, everything was clean, and the breakfast was way above my expected standard. Also the lady who was running the breakfast area was exceptionally hard working both mornings.
Disliked: Legitimately have zero complaints with my stay.
