The Spotlight on Clink 261 Hostel

Affordable London Crash Pad Steps from Kings Cross

Clink 261 Hostel is a fun, modern hostel located just a 2-minute walk from Kings Cross Station—one of London’s key transport hubs. With a vibrant, youthful atmosphere and a central location, it’s a favorite among budget-conscious travelers looking to explore the city or catch a show.

The hostel offers a mix of dormitory and private rooms, all with shared bathrooms and in-room sinks. Each dorm bed features its own locker, reading light, and USB/electric socket, making it easy to recharge both your phone and yourself after a night out.

Staff are on hand 24/7 and the vibe is social, with regular events like movie nights and game nights in the lounge areas. You’ll also find a communal kitchen and free WiFi throughout the building.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything—and being just minutes from Kings Cross and St Pancras stations means you can zip across London to virtually any concert venue with ease. Eurostar travelers will love the easy access too. The 24-hour reception and free luggage storage make life easier if you’re arriving early or heading home late. Despite the central location, guests say it’s relatively quiet at night, especially in private rooms.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a fun, affordable base
  • Solo travelers chasing live gigs and new friends
  • Couples wanting a low-cost London weekend
  • Fans who value a calm space to unwind after the show
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want to stay central

Food and Drink Options

No on-site restaurant, but you’re spoiled for choice nearby. The hostel’s communal kitchen is open for self-catering, and Kings Cross offers plenty of late-night eats, from food trucks to 24-hour diners. While breakfast isn’t included, it’s easy to grab a bite on your way out or cook something up in the kitchen after a lie-in.

Nightlife Options

While the hostel doesn’t have its own bar, there are plenty of pubs, bars, and lounges within walking distance. Camden—known for its live music and nightlife—is just over a mile away and easily reachable by public transport. The hostel itself hosts casual evening events, which are great for meeting fellow music fans over a drink or two.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, central location, and clean facilities. Many reviewers mention how easy it is to get around London from here and appreciate the hostel’s social vibe. The in-room USB ports and lockers are a nice touch, especially for those traveling light.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the shared bathrooms can get busy during peak times, and the building lacks an elevator—so pack light if you're on an upper floor. Rooms are basic, so don’t expect luxury, but for the price and location, it's hard to beat.

The Bottom Line

Clink 261 Hostel is a sociable, affordable, and ultra-convenient home base for concert-goers looking to explore London without blowing their budget.

Passable

Liked: The staff was friendly.
Disliked: The first night of my stay i wasn't abble to access or use my locker because a lady put all her stuff in front of it. So in order to access it I move her closed luggage just a bit. Put my things in the locker and she wasn't happy about it and accused me of making a lot of noise the night before. She was very rude with me. I told her that i only moved her thing a bit to access my locker and that i wasn't even there the night before. She kept accusing me so i left. I wasn't feeling secure with her there. When i came back hours later i still wasn't abble to access my locker because of her things. So i did the same thing and went to explain the situation and they told me that they will talk to her. When she came back at night i was just out of the shower and she started yelling at me again and then she told me what soap did you use it smells like vanilla here and she touched me and started to smell me !!! I yelled at her and went immediatly to my bed. During the night and the morning she was reading out loud or talking to herself. Luckily she went away that day. But i didn't feel safe at all and was disappointed that i was never gave the option to change room.

Poor

Disliked: Really cramped, like being in a submarine. The layout seems designed for women. If you’re a man and need the bathroom, be prepared to go one floor up or down to find one. Showers are the size of a Coke can. No ventilation. Stale human smell everywhere. I left after the third day and moved to a modest hotel (Travelodge), spent only a little more but had a private bathroom. Never again.

Great stay,great location

Liked: Great hostel in excellent central London location.Very clean and friendly helpful staff.Bath rooms and showers rooms are a bit small and can be cramped if a few people are in there at the same time.I was there in the summer and the Room 1 Pod dorm was very hot and uncomfortable to sleep at night. No windows at all and only a small skylight to open. This room and maybe other needs much more ventilation, large in door vent and vents in the pod walls/roof plus bigger sky light opening window may in prove this issue. But all in all very happy and will be staying again.Thank you Clink 261
Disliked: Room was uncomfortable hot at night, lack of variation .(stayed summer,August 2025)Bathrooms and shower facilities are very small and cramped if a few people in them..

Unless you're extremely low on...

Liked: Location
Disliked: Unfortunately, my stay at this hostel was far from comfortable. The room was unbelievably cramped — they've squeezed 6 bunk beds into a space barely 10 square feet. With just three people inside, there was no space to walk, let alone turn around. The gap between the upper and lower bunks is so tight that you can’t even sit up straight — I lost count of how many times I hit my head. The room also had a tiny basin awkwardly stuck in the corner, which made it feel more like a jail cell than a hostel room. Definitely not a space to relax in after a long day.On top of that, one of the male staff (young, without glasses) was impatient and came across as aggressive, which made the experience even more uncomfortable.Overall, unless you're extremely low on budget and don’t plan to spend any time in the room, I’d recommend looking elsewhere
