We found our stay very...
Liked: A wonderful experience with great food. We found staff were very friendly and professional not to mention extremely accommodating. We definitely will be coming back again.
Disliked: Nothing we didn’t like. Everything was great.

Superb location but short-staffed
Liked: The location is perfect - a short walk to the beach and an even shorter walk to the fantastic Eastcliff Park, through nice grounds. The room was light and airy with a comfortable bed; it could do with a mini-fridge and a safe, but otherwise fine. Good choice of food for breakfast buffet. Lovely 15m swimming pool. Pleasant helpful staff
Disliked: The room could have been cleaner - too much dust on the phone/bedside table/chairs and greasy marks on the mirror. The hotel is obviously short-staffed, presumably why housekeeping is lacking, but also the breakfast tables were not cleared and Reception was not always manned. The food at dinner time is ok but quite ordinary.

A nice hotel but let...
Liked: The location and the gardens. The room was comfortable. Staff were friendly.
Disliked: The shower was poor quality - water pressure weak. Meal at dinner was very ordinary - peas were not cooked well. Breakfast was chaotic - often running out of things at the buffet.

The Cliffden Hotel was excellently...
Liked: Due to staff shortages there were times when no-one was in the Reception. However when they came they were helpful, friendly and professional. Nicole was excellent when she was on duty. All the waitresses were good even though they were busy and the dishwasher was broken. The room was newly furbished and perfect for our needs. I asked for more coat hangers as there was only one in he wardrobe and requested a rubberised bathmat for the bath. Both items were supplied quickly. The bathroom was good and the shower supplied lovely hot water. The bath probably needed better sealant at the back. The grounds were superb. The swimming pool was perfect, very clean and inviting. I would describe the food as good and adequate. I did not expect Cordon Bleu food at a 3 star hotel! My dog came with me and was spoilt by guests as well as hotel staff. The beach was a little walk away.
Disliked: It was a long walk and then stairs to our room. A bit tricky for older people with luggage and a dog.No complaints otherwise.

2025 or 1965?
Liked: Stunning location, beautiful gardens, great swimming pool, plenty of parking, and lovely staff.
Disliked: The room we had had an ample seaside view. Huge, semi-circular, tall ceiling, and amazing potential. Unfortunately, the carpets were filthy, dust is omnipresent, the walls were stained, leaky shower, plenty of rust, the toilet basin need a lot of pursuing to flush, unstable handles, all the furniture is dated and rocky, the telly as big as a pc monitor, and the list could carry on forever. I know it's a 3-star hotel, and one can not expect luxury. However, cleanliness and functionality are a must, even in a 1-star hotel, especially at £260/night.
