Cliffden Hotel

This was our second visit...

Liked: Very comfortable bed, spotless bathroom, spacious, attractive, well-kept grounds and adequate parking. Provision of a lift. Fresh fruit and yoghurt for breakfast.
Disliked: The cooked breakfast could have been warmer - maybe with a plate-warmer. Coffee was only ok, not good.

Liked: Staff were helpful. The gardens are lovely and Teignmouth seafront was fantastic,very clean and well maintained,
Disliked: We are not fans of buffet style breakfasts ,many people become animals for the occasion !

Anniversary break

Liked: Excellent location, with lovely grounds. Lovely stroll through gardens to the seafront. All of the staff very helpful and friendly
Disliked: Stayed in room 106 which is located at the rear of the hotel on busy A road with a lot of traffic noise

Adequate but not looking to...

Liked: Swimming pool was nice, our eventual room was OK. Very dog friendly and a beautiful setting.
Disliked: Not being able to eat dinner in the restaurant on our first night, no pre warning of 'you'd better book early to avoid disappointment'! Food quality in general was disappointing, breakfast adequate. Our two evening meals were poor, an overcooked steak and a piece of chicken which looked like it had been boiled not grilled. And no English Mustard! Tables took a long time to clear which meant that instead of being able to sit looking over the sea it was necessary to sit looking at a wall in the morning, understaffed I guess. The first room we were given had a tiny bath with a shower over it, a fixed screen with no hand hold to get in or out, an accident waiting to happen. The 2nd room was better but the shower was a warm trickle, apparently common of all rooms on the 2nd floor. Eventually our 3rd room on the ground floor was OK, however the beds are all on the small side which is uncommon in my experience nowadays.
