Glasgow is a great city...
Liked: Location was great, very central but very quiet despite this. It was a treat to have a view of the river, the road and the railway, plus the sunset. Bed and pillow really excellent, led to 2 very good sleeps! I even took a photo of the mattress and pillow information for future reference, we both slept like logs which is unusual for us. Proximity to the subway was useful for getting to the delightful Botanic Gardens on the other side of the city (highly recommended). Sub Club is around the corner which was good for us old ravers :) Plus a meal at Stereo, again, right around the corner from the hotel, was super.
Disliked: The advertised ice dispensers on 3 separate floors were not plugged in thus non-functioning, despite being on the information boards. The 7th floor terrace was also advertised on aforementioned boards but 'wasn't finished yet' so again, not available, which was a shame as it was a sunny day and would have been great to sit in. I'd say that any appealing elements shouldn't be advertised until totally available to clients, to avoid disappointment. Checking in staff a little unfriendly (and possibly slightly judgemental as we hadn't paid yet?) but I guess they have to do this all the time so it gets a bit tedious for them too (understandable). I feel for the area in general (this is not a criticism of the hotel) that it needs some love and attention from the council, if they have the ability to do so. Quite a lot of empty buildings and detritus in the general area, which is a shame.
